Bali’s Mount Agung May Be Closed But Karangasem Regency Offers Plenty To Explore

Bali’s Mount Agung will be closed to the public for the next two months so that spiritual leaders and the local community can complete a once-in-a-decade series of ceremonies and rituals. As Bali tourists have to strike the Mount Agung hike off their itinerary between the 1st of October and the 30th of November, many will simply avoid the Karangasem Regency area entirely.

This is such a shame! Karangasem Regency is home to a wealth of cultural, historical, and natural wonders that make for memorable and enlightening travel experiences; many even offer execution views of the sacred peak itself.
