As the final stages of testing and development are underway at the new Bali International Hospital in Sanur, medical professionals and luxury tourism operators have come together to guarantee seamless, integrated travel and health services for medical tourists.
Sanur has undergone a serious transformation in the last five years. Now redeveloped into a world-class medical tourism resort and maintaining its long-standing identity as a family-friendly vacation retreat, business leaders in Sanur are solidifying new partnerships that will benefit tourists no end.
The PT Hotel International Sanur Indonesia, the parent company of the hotel group The Sanur, has signed a cooperation agreement with PT Gapura Angkasa, who will offer VIP airport transfer services for guests. The Sanur is the new brand name for the Bali Beach Hotel, The Meru Sanur, and the Bali Beach Convention Centre.
The PT Hotel Internasional Sanur Indonesia (HISI) is the operator of the Sanur Health Special Economic Zone (KEK Sanur/Sanur SEZ), a government initiative to transform Bali into a world-class medical and wellness tourism destination.
This government initiative is set up similarly to The Nusa Dua as a resort and the up-and-coming special economic zone of Kura-Kura.
HISI will also oversee operations at the Bali International Hospital once it opens to patients in early 2025.
The Sanur Health Special Economic Zone, managed by HISI, will also feature cell therapy clinics, aesthetic and plastic surgery clinics, fertility clinics, eye clinics, and hair transplant clinics.
The signing of the new partnership with PT Gapura Angkasa will ensure that medical tourists and visitors to The Sanur will receive end-to-end travel support, something that is particularly important to medical tourists.
Speaking at the public signing of the partnership, the President Director of PT Hotel Internasional Sanur Indonesia, Doddy Akhamdsyah, shared his hopes that this collaboration can provide a seamless journey while improving the customer experience for tourists who will enjoy all the services The Sanur has to offer.
In addition to medical tourism provisions, The Sanur also features the newly opened and still under development ICON Bali Mall. Once fully operational, the retail park will feature a multi-level shopping mall, floating marker, sunset sea foundation, vertical forest, edible garden, butterfly park, and more.
The Bali International Hospital will provide private healthcare treatments to international medical tourists and privately paying Indonesian residents.
Featuring six centers of excellence, including cardiology, oncology, neurology, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, and medical check-ups, the Bali International Hospital is set to be the most state-of-the-art hospital in the province.
There is hope that Sanur will soon become the leading medical tourism hotspot in Southeast Asia, competing with destinations like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore.
As The Sanur and the Bali International Hospital get closer to being fully open and operational, more and more partnership deals are being signed.
In June 2024, Bali International Hospital signed a deal with Icon Asia Holdings Pte Ltd, which is a subsidiary of global cancer care provider Icon Group, which is Australia’s largest provider of private cancer care services.
Speaking to the press following the signing, Dr. Dewi F. Fitriana, from Bali International Hospital, said, “Our partnership with Icon marks a crucial step towards bridging the gap in cancer care.”
“Together, we are committed to delivering world-class oncology services that will significantly improve healthcare outcomes for the Indonesian population.”
In April 2024, Indonesia Healthcare Corporation (IHC), which is the state-owned hospital responsible for the day-to-day operation of the hospital, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with SingHealth as part of a commitment to cross-sharing of clinical practices, innovation, and training to improve the quality of healthcare.
SingHealth is the largest public healthcare group in Singapore, and the partnership incorporates projects including training for doctors and nurses, joint research initiatives, and complex case management, in addition to collaborative activities in medical education and professional development.
The development of The Sanur as an integrated special economic zone for tourism and medical tourism is of huge benefit for medical tourists traveling to Bali.
The partnerships and supporting infrastructure mean that The Sanur is a one-stop-shop for all health, wellness, and medical tourism needs, creating the best possible environment for individuals to heal and grow.
