Since Bali has celebrated the successful arrival of the world’s largest commercial plane to I Gusti Ngurah Rai International, passengers arriving in the province can expect an even more efficient arrivals process.
On June 1st, 2023, Bali welcomed Emirate A380 to the tarmac, in a true moment for the history books.
The flight landed at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International without a hitch after months and months of planning. This was the first time an A380 super jumbo plane had arrived anywhere in Indonesia.

In fact, demand for travel to Bali is increasing as the high season approaches, and Bali Airport is working around the clock to ensure that arrivals have a pleasant and efficient experience upon touching down.
Officials from Bali Airport have confirmed that more immigration officials have been deployed at arrival counters ahead of the high season as a result of the new Emirates A380 service.
Speaking to reporters, the Head of Class I Immigration Office TPI at Ngurah Rai, Sugito, explained the changes that have been made.
Sugito said, “This Airbus A380 arrives every day at 4 pm, when where there are also planes carrying other tourists arriving at the same hour. So, we are adding personnel in the field.”

He continued, “In total, there are dozens of inspection counters provided at the international arrival terminal. There are 48 of our officers on standby at the counter to check the immigration documents of the tourists.”
Sugito concluded, “All inspection officers have been prepared and are ready to examine passengers in accordance with the applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).”
Travel data shows that I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar is operating flights in partnership with 36 international airlines serving 29 international routes.
Daily passenger movements, in-bound and out-bound combined, total average of 30,100 people across 166 aircraft movements.
The vast majority of international tourists arriving in Bali do so using a visa on arrival. This visa category is open to citizens from 92 countries around the world and costs IDR 500,000, which gives tourists 30 days in Indonesia.
This visa can be extended one time for an additional fee, giving visits up to 60 days in Indonesia in total.
As the high season approaches, immigration officials will be working hard to ensure that the arrivals process at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport is as efficient as possible.
For travelers wishing to arrange their visa on arrival ahead of time, it is now possible to apply for an e-visa on arrival no less than 48 hours before traveling to Indonesia.
Immigration officials have issued warnings to travelers that there is only one official website for e-VOA applications, and this is https://molina.imigrasi.go.id/.
This is also the website for visa-on-arrival extensions. Each traveler must have their own account on the website, and e-VOA must be applied for one by one, even for children traveling with the family group.
As of last week, all tourists arriving in Bali will be given an information card as they pass through the immigration counters. This ‘good tourist guide’ will outline the twelve obligations tourists must follow during their time on the island and the eight prohibitions they must honor too.
A good tourist guidebook is being given to all arrivals in Bali as part of the provincial government’s mission to encourage high-quality tourism on the island.

I can't comment for luggage, as I only had carry on... But my flights luggage was already at the carousel.
Arrived this week, Immigration queues didnt take too long, although we just beat Emirates' arrival at 4pm.... The process does take a bit longer than you would expect to process individuals...
Did not receive any guide book tho!
It's great they are cleaning up some of the unwarranted behaviours of visitors. But I feel if you want to do this, you also need to look at other behaviours and products being sold in the streets... It's not only tourists that aren't perfect....

Last month I had to pay VOA just to catch another flight outta there, crazy n greedy. I left 4 hours between connecting flights, but after buying a visa, passport control, bags, customs I had 40 mins left to check into my flight. The check in girl was just packing up as I rocked up, stressed and sweaty. I pleaded with her and she wonderfully checked me in, escorted me through security and I made my flight, she was a star but everything else was a total shambles

It’s not the VOA, customs and immigration that is slow, it’s the baggage! I can’t understand why it can take an hour or more for our luggage to arrive on the conveyor belt. Very frustrating!

Today was enourmous queue at imigrasi departure spilled out into security check area. Bali receive 30% of total tourists to Indonesia, still no focus on shortening the queues, while for Indonesian no queue. Crazy.
