There’s plenty of parking, deck chairs, and umbrellas for hire, lots of fun activities to take part in, and dozens of locally run cafes and bars. Pandawa Beach offers visitors the rustic charm of the Bali beaches of old.

Set back on top of the vast cliffs that overlook Pandawa Beach sit some of Bali’s most luxurious villa complexes, including the Pandawa Cliff Estate. Yet from the shoreline, tourists feel immersed in the landscape with stunning vistas of the rolling ocean, white sands, and imposing cliffs. 

Aside from sunbathing and beach walking, one of the most popular activities at Pandawa Beach is canoeing. Local business owners have canoes for hire, and it is a fun way to explore the coastline. Pandawa Beach has so far proven to be most popular with travelers on family holidays.

The area is really family-friendly and perfect for intergenerational vacations. Pandawa is considered super affordable, too. The beachside has not yet been commercialized in the same way areas like Canggu and Kuta have been; Pandawa ticks off much of the criteria of a classic beach getaway.

Pandawa Beach is well maintained, and this is in part due to the admission fee. Entry costs IDR 8,000 (US 0.50), and vehicle parking ranges from IDR 2000-5000 (USD 0.15-30). Earlier this year, there was a public dialogue over introducing a similar system at Kuta Beach. 

Though Pandawa Beach is typically not overcrowded, like all beaches in Bali, the area is anticipating a huge influx of people over the Christmas and New Year holidays. Earlier this month, the General Manager of Bali Airport confirmed that they are preparing to welcome over 1.4 million arrivals over the festive season. 

Pandawa Beach is just 8.6km south of the GWK Bali Cultural Park, where Bali’s biggest New Year’s Eve event will be taking place. This week organizers announced that they will be hosting over 16,000 people at the Bali Countdown 2023 event. Despite the venue having a capacity of 23,000 people, organizers have decided to run the event at 70% capacity to ensure public safety. 

There are dozens of New Year’s Eve parties and festivals scheduled across Bali. With many of the biggest events already sold out, travelers heading to the Island of the Gods to call in the New Year are encouraged to book their tickets as soon as possible.

The island’s leading beach clubs and nightlife venues have all secured international headliners to celebrate New Year’s Eve for the first time since the pandemic began. Police and security teams in Bali have announced that they will be conducting additional patrols across the island to ensure that public safety is maintained during the festivities.
