A 38-year-old man from Jordan, Mohanad DM Naji, lost his temper at the departure terminal of Bali Ngurah Rai Airport on Tuesday evening (25/1).
The Head of the Denpasar Public Relations Police Office, Iptu I Ketut Sukadi, confirmed that Mohanad lost his temper and assaulted three officers at the domestic terminal of Bali Airport after he missed his flight on Tuesday at 7:40 pm.
He hurt two aviation security officers named Akhmad Tio Irawan (aged 26) and I Nyoman Sudiasa (aged 49) and one police officer named Gatut Suryadi.
“Mohanad assaulted the back of Tio’s neck, punched Sudiasa’s mouth, and hit Suryadi’s right cheek during the incident,” Iptu Sukadi said on Thursday (27/1).
Prior to the incident, Mohanad waited for his flight at Gate 5 of the departure terminal along with seven people in his group as they were scheduled to fly to Jakarta with Lion Air. After a few hours of waiting, Mohanad felt suspicious and inquired about his flight status from the airport authority.
He became mad he was informed that his flight had already taken off a few moments earlier.
“Mohanad felt unsatisfied with the authority’s explanation and insisted on entering Lion Air’s office. Several aviation officers at the location attempted to calm him down but failed, so police officers interfered to avoid escalation,” Sukadi added.
Mohanad calmed down by 8:00 pm, and he admitted that he was disappointed by the service of the airline company. He needed to take that flight to Jakarta as he had a connecting flight the following day to Jordan, to visit his sick parent.
All three officers accepted Mohanad’s apology during the mediation and refused to file a lawsuit against him. Mohaned also agreed to take another flight to Jordan the following day (26/1) at 7:00 am.

Amazing! You can physically assault 2 airport security and a police officer, and then apologize and get off with no jail time or fine. Just like nothing happended. What a strange law enforcement system.

There is no reason to assault law enforcement authorities regardless!! Unruly behavior is not acceptable in a civilized world.
If he stood by the gate then he should know that the announcement of any delays or an imminent departure. It's his damn fault!! The low cost Airline should also have done a better job to avoid an undesirable situation.
The authorities are not going to press charges for this person's physical abusive behavior because he has apologized. Seriously...I am lost for words. If an Indonesian or another nationality for that matter abused a law enforcement authority in a foreign land it will not end well despite any apologies.
There has been a rise of unruly passengers in the US. The Airlines will not put up with losers anymore. Fine and possible jail time. This should be an example to be learned by the local authorities here that physical abuse is an assault. It should not be acceptable regardless of nationality.

@Wayan Bo, but you are ok with that people can assault police officers?? Indonesians out there who are aware of this macabre incident are appalled and disgusted that a foreigner can actually get away from assaulting a law enforcement. Was there a monetary value that this loser was not arrested? Apologies or not...that remains to be seen.
