One of the G-20 events scheduled to be held in Bali has been recently canceled.
The Vice Governor of Bali, Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati (Cok Ace), confirmed that the G-20 event called ‘Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting (FCBD) 2 and Finance Minister and Central Bank (FMCBG)’ that was planned to be held in Nusa Dua, Bali from February 15th to 18th 2022 had been officially canceled.
The government decided to move the event to Jakarta due to the Omicron variant transmission.
“Following the latest Decree from the Finance Minister that was signed on Wednesday (19/1), one of the G-20 events planned to be held in Bali was moved to Jakarta due to the spread of the Omicron variant nationally and globally,” Cok Ace said on Thursday (20/1).
The decision was made after there was a significant decrease in the attendance rate, as the majority of delegates decided to join the conference virtually.
“The government decided to hold the conference in Jakarta to make it easier for them to handle the event. Most participants have decided to join the conference virtually from their own countries in light of the global Omicron transmission,” Cok Ace concluded.
The Bali tourism sector was disappointed with this decision as the event was expected to contribute to the local economy.

Hmmmmmm. When I think that the same G20 politicians and bureaucrats who would have attended are the same incompetent goons who let Covid ruin the global economy might have all been eliminated if locked in a windowless room together…. maybe it was a bad idea to cancel.

Good! Now Bali can be reopened, was closed because of G20 anyway. No excuse now.

As expected virtual conference is safer in the long run. Too bad for Bali in this day and age with the ongoing uncertainty in the whole wide world. People are getting sick even with vaccinated folks having milder symptoms.
