The Covid-19 vaccine booster program started on January 12th 2021. Bali Governor, I Wayan Koster, confirmed that 3.4 million Bali residents are expected to receive the Covid-19 vaccine booster under the program.

Koster expressed gratitude as the President has supported him in providing the Covid-19 vaccine for the Bali residents. The goal is to achieve herd immunity. “Our President provides everything we need. As a result, we were once appointed as the island with the highest vaccination rate in Indonesia,” Koster said.

He also explained that Bali has one of the highest vaccination rates for the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine to elementary children. The provincial government has already achieved 100.20 percent of its target.

Koster is proud that Covid-19 transmission was significantly reduced due to the citizens’ enthusiasm to get vaccinated.

For the first batch of boosters, Koster will prioritize senior citizens. They will have four brand options: Pfizer, Sinovac, AstraZeneca, and Moderna.

“200,000 doses of the booster vaccine is ready to be distributed, and the government will keep on providing more doses. I will cooperate with the Health Minister to finish this program within two months,” Koster added. He is optimistic that the program will help Bali revive the economy, as the island is expected to host 150 international events in 2022.
