Two foreign nationals have been arrested for breaking into a villa that belongs to an Italian man and stealing cash and valuables.
The Head of the Denpasar Police Department, Kombes Pol Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, confirmed that two out of four suspects had been arrested.
“The two suspects were identified as a 34-year-old man named Nicola Disanto from Italy and a 36-year-old man named Gregory Lee Simpson from England. They were arrested for breaking into a villa that is located in Seminyak,” Kombes Pol Jansen said on Tuesday (28/12).
A police officer received a report of the incident from the victim’s wife, who was locked up by the suspects in a villa located on Jalan Nakula Gg Baik-Baik, Seminyak Kuta. The incident occurred early at 2:30 am when both victim and his wife were asleep.
Two suspects broke into the villa and assaulted the victim. They then stole valuable items and cash from the villa. “The suspects threatened the victims with a knife. They also beat up the Italian man as they asked for his cellphone’s password to gain access into his personal account,” Jansen added.
The victim’s wife became suspicious when she heard strange noises, so she went out of her bedroom. She ended up getting locked up in the same room as her husband.
The suspects managed to steal six cellphones, four motorbike registration papers, six car registration papers, a camera, four laptops, IDR $200 million cash, Euro €10,000 cash, Saudi Riyal $3,000 cash, and a large number of bitcoins. After the suspects left, the victim and his wife reported the incident to the police.
After days of investigation, Nicola was finally arrested in the Kerobokan area while Gregory was arrested from his girlfriend’s place in Kuta. The police have spotted two more potential suspects from the CCTV cameras around the scene.
“Two suspects have been detained while the other two are still being investigated. During interrogation, Nicola admitted that he used to work for the victim,” Kombes Pol Jansen concluded.

At least very remarkable that somebody is holding that amount of cash in house (since nearly each house in Bali is becoming nicknamed „vila“, what is voicing almost for poorer people very prestigious). - Bali is nice place for money laundering.
