Alleged Drunk Expat Drives Against Bali Traffic Causing Chaos

An alleged drunk expat was caught driving against the flow of traffic in Denpasar, which caused chaos in traffic on Sunday morning (24/10).

A video of an expat who allegedly drove his car under the influence on Jalan Thamrin-Hassanudin, Denpasar went viral on social media and received negative reactions from the Bali community. The incident that occurred on Sunday morning around 9:30 am was recorded by some locals as they attempted to stop the man from driving his car uncontrollably.

In the video, the man who drove a Nissan Juke was ignoring the people who were attempting to stop him. Apart from that, he also drove into a motorbike that was driven by a local as he began to get frustrated. Several people even attempted to hit his door and shout at him but he just kept on driving the car until he got to Jalan Diponegoro, Denpasar.

Many people on social media urged the authorities to investigate this case and asked them to punish this man in accordance with Indonesian laws as he has violated several different policies during the incident. As a response to this report, the Head of the Denpasar Traffic Officer, Kompol Ni Putu Utariani confirmed that she has begun her investigation in regards of this case. “We have been trying to identify this man, so I want people to be patient.” Kompol Utariani said.
