The Stakeholder Relation Manager of Angkasa Pura I Ltd for Ngurah Rai Airport, Taufan Yudhistira confirmed that the influx of domestic visitors through the Bali Airport has significantly increased since the government reduced the costs of Covid-19 test as one of the travel requirements. “I think the increase of domestic visitors these days is a direct result from the cost reduction for the PCR tests for domestic travelers.” Yudhistira said on Sunday (5/9).

Apart from that, he also assumed that the other factor that affected this increase was the leniency on the travel restriction that was recently implemented where people who have completed the second dose of their Covid-19 vaccination are able to gain access to the island by showing proof of a rapid antigen test upon arrival. The government has also recently adjusted the maximum price of rapid antigen tests to USD 7 (IDR 99,000) for each traveler.

Yudhistira explained that the Bali Airport has been receiving around 6,000 passengers each day since the recent adjustment to the Covid-19 test policy on Friday (3/9). “From previously receiving only 2,500 passengers each day, the number increased to 6,000 passengers, mostly from Jakarta and Surabaya.” Yudhistira added. He also predicts that the number will keep on increasing when Covid-19 cases in Bali and Java are handled better in near future.

The vaccinated travelers matter most in a current volatile covid environment. However adding a test would measure the efficacy of each travelers' condition to be worthy to travel and eliminate the uncertainty.
