A 45-year-old man named I Ketut Liang from Selat Village, Bangli was found dead in a rice field on Wednesday evening (21/7).
The Head of the Klungkung Criminal Investigation Bureau, AKP Ario Seno Wimoko confirmed that the body was found by a witness named I Nengah Suarta on Wednesday when he was about to head home from the rice field. “The victim was already dead when he was found in a rice field that is located in Getakan Village by the witness that evening.” AKP Wimoko said on Thursday (22/7).
According to information from the witness, the incident occured when Suarta had finished his work in his rice field on Wednesday evening and planned to go home. But Suarta became suspicious when he spotted the victim’s motorbike that was still parked near the rice field area. “Suarta finally decided to check on the victim in the rice field area that he was working on, but then he was shocked when he saw his friend lying unconscious in the rice field.” AKP Wimoko added.
Shortly after, Suarta immediately reported the incident to the authorities of the Getakan Village. When the police arrived at the scene, the victim was confirmed dead before being transported to the Klungkung Public Hospital. Meanwhile, the Public Relation of the Klungkung Hospital, Gusti Putu Widiyasa confirmed that the doctor didn’t find any wounds from a physical assault on the victim’s body. “We couldn’t continue our investigation of his body as the victim’s family refused to conduct an autopsy. They also explained that Liang had been suffering from hypertension and kidney problems prior to his death.” AKP Wimoko concluded.
