A 32-year-old man named Gede Mindra (a.k.a Mandrak) has been arrested after breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s house and stealing a motorbike in Gianyar.
The Head of the Gianyar Police Department, AKBP Bayu Sutha Sartana confirmed that the suspect was arrested along with his partner,Wayan Agus Saputra (aged 27) from Nusa Penida for motorbike theft in two separate locations. “Both suspects were arrested for breaking into a house that is located on Candra Asti Housing Complex in Batubulan and stealing a motorbike.” AKBP Sartana said during a press conference on Wednesday (21/7).
Prior to the arrest, officers had been investigating the case since the victim filed a report regarding the incident that occurred on Saturday morning (22/5) around 10:00am. AKBP Sartana also said that the suspects were easily able to break into the house as Mindra was familiar with the victim’s house. “The victim was Mindra’s ex-girlfriend, and they had been dating for over 8 years prior to the incident. So it was easy for him to break into the house.” AKBP Sartana added.
Mindra was arrested from his new girlfriend’s boarding house that is located on Jalan Drupadi, Denpasar on Thursday afternoon (15/7) around 4:00pm. During the interrogation, Mindra admitted that he had sold the evidence to a motorbike dealer that is located in Tabanan for USD 895 (IDR 12,8 million). “Mindra received USD 280 (IDR 4 million) and Saputra received USD 615 (IDR 8,8 million), they claim to have already spent the money on gambling. Mindra could potentially face 7 years imprisonment to be held responsible for what he has done.” AKBP Sartana concluded. Meanwhile, Saputra was arrested and detained at the Klungkung Police Department as he has also recently been involved in other criminal activities in the Klungkung area.
