Following the extension of the partial lockdown in Bali, Jembrana regional government has decided to postpone the in-person learning plan that was set to resume on Monday (26/4).
The Head of Jembrana Education Youth and Sports Agency, I Nyoman Wenten confirmed that despite all preparation to restart in-person learning at schools in Jembrana District, the plan was canceled.
“The decision was made based on the central government’s latest instruction to extend the partial lockdown in Bali,” Wenten said.
He explained that in accordance with the instructions from the Ministry of Home Affairs Number 9 Year 2021, the community-based partial lockdown was extended until the 3rd of May 2021 to prevent a surge in cases during the preparation stage of the international travel corridor reopening plan.
However, Wenten admitted that he was disappointed by this policy as all the requirements to start in-person learning were 100 percent complete.
“Despite all the requirements to begin the in-person learning such as implementing prevention protocols, agreement letter from all parents and permission letter from Jembrana Regent were already completed, we still need to postpone the plan until further notice from the central government,” Wenten added.
As a result, all students will continue their virtual classes.
Meanwhile, Wenten hopes that the government would begin the in-person learning in May so the final exam would be done at school.
“We hope that students could attend the class to do their final exam at school in May as it would be more effective for teachers to complete a proper assessment,” Wenten concluded.
