The special Covid-19 Task Force from Bali Police Department has begun their operations in several local markets to enforce prevention protocols. The new unit was recently created by the Police Department to inspect compliance with protocols in public areas.
The Head of Operation Officer, Kombes Pol Firman Nainggolan decided to target the local fresh markets in several different locations in Denpasar, especially before Galungan Celebration as many people would frequent the markets to prepare for the celebration.
“Our officers began their inspection in local markets as the activity in those places is increasing before Galungan Celebration tomorrow,” Kombes Pol Firman said.
The operation was initiated to ensure that all prevention protocols are implemented. “We want to make sure that everyone is complying with prevention protocols by carrying out physical distancing and wearing their mask properly while shopping in the market” Firman added.
The activity in most local markets in Denpasar became twice as busy as usual, making it challenging to carry out social distancing.
Firman explained that this operation was not meant to intimidate people, but only to remind and educate everyone to continue complying with protocols especially during the community-based partial lockdown that’s in effect across Bali.
“Instead of penalizing the violators, we decided to do an educational approach in today’s operation. We wanted to show the public that the police institution will always be there for them” said Kombes Pol Firman.
