Bali COVID-19 Handling Task Force has announced that virus transmission on the island has significantly declined since the partial lockdown took effect. Accordingly, Bali is moving closer to its goal of restarting international travel.
The Head of Bali Covid-19 Handling Task Force, Dewa Made Indra, informed a decrease in transmission and increasing recovery rates.
“The daily new transmission on Monday was 167 cases. A huge improvement as our previous average was more than 200 cases each day,” Made Indra said on Tuesday (2/3).
Additionally, the total cumulative COVID-19 cases in Bali is 34,699 cases, with 31,643 recoveries (91,19%) and 939 deaths (2,71%). The current cases as of Monday are 2,117 cases (6,10%).
Based on this data, Made Indra is optimistic that the border would reopen soon, especially with the vaccination program targeting the tourism workers.
Meanwhile, the community-based partial lockdown continues to be implemented in most areas in Bali until at least March 8.
“The government initiated this partial lockdown to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission on the island to accelerate the COVID-19 Green Zone, so our economy will recover from the crisis as soon as possible,” Made Indra concluded.
He urged the people always to carry out prevention protocols in public areas to avoid creating a crowd leading to transmission.

12 months since Bali closed down because of the virus, in all this time we have heard from many government ministers about the imminent opening of the country to tourists what a load of bullshit. Instead of giving your people false hope why don’t you feed them our Balinese friends mum , dad and 3 girls 8,4 and 1 have had no help from the government to survive they both lost their jobs in tourism at the start of the pandemic and so far they have received some eggs, yams and cooking oil woopty doo. If not for us sending money to them they would starve to death because this government is so incompetent and has no idea what to do accept make announcements about nothing WAKE UP for the sake of your own people before it’s too late and Bali is finished for good.

When Bali gets down to single digit transmissions over a period of weeks. Then it can say Covid transmissions are decreasing. There were 198 new Covid cases on March 3 with sadly 8 deaths. Bali needs to stop advertising they are soon to open. This just gives people false hope. To vaccinate 75% of the population of Bali at 5,000 vaccinations per day. It would take 2 years and 4 months. Maybe the Bali government has a more ambitious plan to deal with Coronavirus?
