The Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, admitted that he has prepared a scheme to reopen the tourism sector in Bali specifically in the green zone or in areas with minimal risk of transmission of Covid-19. The ‘Green Zone’ is a safe Covid-19-free area to receive international travelers in the near future as the border reopens.
Governor Koster said that the green zone area is prepared to allow both international and domestic travelers to visit the island during the pandemic.
“Myself and the Health Ministry agreed to open the green zone area, so both domestic and international travelers will be only allowed to visit these Covid-19 free areas,” said Koster during a virtual press conference through the official Health Ministry’s Youtube channel on Monday (1/3).
This scheme was launched in response to the latest official statement from the Indonesian Maritime and Investment Minister, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan regarding the plan to reopen Bali for international tourists.
In order to accelerate economic recovery, Koster urged everyone including tourism workers to stop being reluctant in being vaccinated.
“I urge to all the people in Bali, especially in the tourism sector to stop worrying about the side effect of the Covid-19 vaccine, as the government has ensured that the vaccine is safe to be injected” Koster added.
Additionally, Koster confirmed that the Covid-19 vaccine has no major side effect as he has already been injected asks the people to support the government’s effort to end this pandemic as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the Tourism Minister, Sandiaga Uno said that he has been observing the implementation of prevention protocols in the last couple of months since he set up his office on the island to supervise and find solutions for the tourism sector.
“After observing the Covid-19 cases in the last several weeks in Bali, I think it’s time for us to start reopening our border one step at a time for international visitors with strict prevention protocols in place” Sandiaga concluded.
He also stated that the plan to reopen the travel corridor was initiated after seeing an increase in the compliance level of Bali people to follow the prevention protocols in public areas.

Creating a Covid Free green Zone is a big laugh. Tourists want to enjoy Bali life and not just stay in an artificial tourist enclave. Whole pandemic should be under control worldwide and only then tourism should restart.

@Harry, it’s cute you think the pandemic is real. It’s a flu that 99.9 % of people survive. That’s not a pandemic. 80% of people have no symptoms at all. That is not a pandemic. A real pandemic doesn’t have people arguing over whether it’s real. And never in the history of the world have we ever quarantined the healthy. And that’s including actual real pandemics that have happened. This isn’t about Covid, it’s about global and economic control, it’s about money.
People need to wake up. Enough is enough. They will keep coming up with new strands as long as people play along.

@Harry, you do realise that it will take about 6 years to vaccinate the whole world , if tourists have been vaccinated there is no reason they shouldn’t be allowed to visit , malnutrition and hunger is a big problem for many in the north east of Bali.

Indonesia and Bali specifically will suffer for a long time with this Covid issue. Whilst I love the place their mentality, planning schemes to re-open is so speculative and bordering delusional. Who wants to go there when there will be green zones and restrictions. Most countries will just not allow travel there anyway and limited airlines will service it. They continually come up with re-opening dates and strategies. It's just men there who think they are important talking shit that others believe, comical.

@Mark T, you are delusional to think Bali can survive financially without tourism. You are also delusional to think vaccines are changing anything regarding what these government elitist want. They still want people locked down after vaccines, they are coming up with new strands of the virus that the vaccine does not protect from, just to keep people in panic mode and maintain control and come up with new things they can continue to inject us with. The real question is: how long are governments going to play their little game.
We should all have a choice. If you want to be a scared sheep, no one if forcing you to come out of your home, but the rest of us will live and walk in freedom.
