105 public transportation buses have been launched in Bali to help reduce congestion and the high number of accidents occurring among young people in the province.

The buses will operate 4 corridors in Denpasar, Badung, Tabanan and Gianyar.

Bali Governor I Wayan Koster and Director General of Land Transportation, Budi Setiadi. said they hope that this will be the solution to the traffic problem in Bali and help persuade many young people to use public transportation.

“This is much better, the government can subsidize the corridors and the buses are especially suitable for students and other young people to minimize risk on the road with a very small budget,” Governor Koster said at the launch of the service.

The Bali government is planning to change the people’s mindset about transportation, from private into public transportation like many other developed cities.

Bali’s roadways have become completely overwhelmed in recent years leading to heavy congestion, traffic jams and slow moving traffic.

The Bali government is also hoping the new transportation service will also reduce the number of vehicular deaths in young people which has skyrocketed over the last 10 ten years.
