Ubud is one of the world’s most in-demand travel destinations.
Home to luxury jungle resorts and villas, it offers guests indulgent nature retreats in and around Bali’s arts and culture capital.
The international hotel group Marriott is introducing a new property to its Autograph Collection Portfolio, the Cicada Resort Ubud.
Located in Sebatu Village, surrounded by the rice terraces of Tegallalang District just outside the thumbing heart of Ubud, the Cicada Resort Ubud is now under the management of the Marriott Autograph Collection.
This exclusive resort is being designed to provide guests with the opportunity to find harmony with mind, body, and soul.
Speaking at the press lunch launch of the new and improved Cicada Resort Ubud, the Area Vice President-Indonesia & Malaysia at Marriott International, Ramesh Jackson, said, “Surrounded by tropical forests, this resort is not only close to nature but part of nature.”
“There is no doubt that with the current travel trends, more and more people are looking for health and deep experiences for spiritual travel, and this will be the right choice.”
The lunch event was also attended by the General Manager of Cicada Resort Bali Ubud, Autograph Collection Hotels, Reka Yanti, who revealed that beyond the exclusive experiences the hotel would offer guests, the hotel will also provide easy access to Bali’s must-see attractions and cultural wonders.
Yanti said, “About two hours away from the airport, this resort offers access to many tourist destinations that can be reached, which, of course, is still connected to the original idea of nature.”
She added, “As can be seen, there are many activities that can be visited. One of our unique selling points is that there is a spring in our resort where guests can do the tradition of [Melukat] or purifying themselves.”
Yanti touched on the in-house restaurant, which will serve breakfast and dinner. The Tangelo Restaurant will serve nourishing food inspired by the island’s rich culinary history.
She explained, “We will offer an extraordinary blend of global flavors, where traditional techniques combine with innovative culinary creations. At the heart of our philosophy is the belief that dining should be an amazing moment.”
It is not only the Tangelo Restaurant where guests can wine and dine but also the Verdant Pool Lounge and Bar.
The bar will serve an exceptional menu of handmade cocktails and alcoholic beverages combined with fresh herbs and local spices.
The pool lounge will open out to one of the most impressive infinity pools in the Ubud area, which will boast breathtaking views of the Gianyar jungle over the ridge.
Of course, no luxury hotel would be complete without an in-house spa, and the Cicada Resort Ubud is no exception.
Calling on Marriott’s extensive experience in creating world-class spa environments, the Cicada Resort Ubud will be home to the Pravi Spa.
The full treatment menu shows a comprehensive range of spa experiences that will help guests rest, rejuvenate, and renew.
The Pravi Spa is described as “an oasis of wellness nestled deep in the jungle and close to the gentle melody of a flowing river. Here, nature’s healing powers and the fusion of traditional and modern techniques come together to offer you an unparalleled sense of well-being.”
The launch of the Cicada Resort Ubud is not the only new jungle hotel to be welcomed to Gianyar’s most popular tourist community in the coming months.
In 2025, Ubud will see the arrival of the Sudamala Resort Ubud. The hotel group already has lodged in Bali’s Sanur and Amed, as well as in Lombok and the Flores Islands.
Speaking to reporters back in April during the first stone-laying ceremony for the new resort, the CEO of Sudamala Resorts, Ben Subrata, said, “The preservation of nature and scenic beauty are our reasons for expanding our business, particularly in the hospitality and tourism industry in Ubud.”
He added, “Ubud plays a critical role in the tourism industry. Resorts are an indispensable element of travel needs. Ubud is rich in traditions, culture, and natural beauty, which attract both local and international tourists.”
