Two suspects who have been involved in a rental car embezzlement group in Bali have been arrested.
The Head of the Sukawati Police Department, AKP Made Airawan confirmed that two suspects who have been identified as Ni Made Emi Riana Wulandari and Gusti Putu Noor Hairul were arrested while another two suspects are fugitives. “After receiving information from our intelligence service stating that the suspects were in Malang East Java, we immediately began our operation and managed to arrest the suspects.” AKP Airawan said Thursday (16/9).
During the suspects’ operation, they pretended to rent cars from a couple rental companies, and then turned around and sold them for cash. “During their last operation, Noor pretended to rent a Toyota Calya for two days with his fake ID, and then sold it to someone in Singaraja for USD 845 (IDR 12 million).” AKP Airawan added. Other than Emi and Noor, they also admitted that they had been doing this operation along with two partners, Wayan Eka and Gede, who are now considered fugitives on the run.
Within just two months, the suspects have managed to embezzle a total of four cars. Emi was known as a specialist in making fake documents to trick their victims and she admitted that she had no choice but to do this in order to provide for her daily basic needs. “The two suspects have been detained at Sukawati Police Department along with evidence. The investigation to find the other suspects is still underway.” AKP Airawan concluded. He also warns people to be more careful, including those who run rental car businesses during Covid-19 pandemic.

Staying in Bali without work is the obvious mistake. Balinese can return to the village. Non Balinese should return to wherever they came from. Poverty is not an excuse to remain.

It seems that a next Gumball 3000 wouldn’t come to Bali in soon future. A few years ago it was coming to Thailand from Europe. - In some poor country’s it was happened that poor villagers jumped in front of driving cars in hope that they will get money from car insurance.
