The Bali provincial government expects to finish their Covid-19 vaccination program by September 2021.
Bali Governor, I Wayan Koster stated that as the province that has the highest Covid-19 vaccination rate in Indonesia, Bali is expected to finish its vaccination program with all residents by the end of September 2021. “Thanks to the central government who has supported us by distributing 4.6 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine so far, from a total of 6 million doses needed in order to vaccinate all Bali residents to achieve herd immunity.” Koster said on Friday (30/7).
Koster explained that from the government’s target to distribute the vaccine to at least 3 million people (70%) in Bali in order to achieve herd immunity as instructed by WHO, the Bali provincial government has successfully distributed the first dose of the vaccine to around 3,046,886 residents. “ We have reached our target to distribute the vaccine to over 3 million people on the island, while 807,838 people have already completed their second dose of the vaccine.” Koster added. However Koster admitted that the distribution of the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in Bali is still considered low in comparison with the first one, so he instructed his officials to boost the distribution as well as proposing the central government to deliver another 1.4 million doses of the vaccine in the near future.
Meanwhile Koster also removed the self-isolation policy for asymptomatic Covid-19 patients at home to prevent potential transmissions through family clusters like previously instructed by the central government through the Maritime and Investment Coordinator Minister, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan. Koster reminds the community to support the vaccination program by voluntarily visiting the nearby vaccination site to help reduce the risk of Covid-19 infections on the island. “According to our data, 60% of the current Covid-19 patients have not been vaccinated, this shows that the vaccine could reduce transmissions as well as reducing the risk of developing harsh symptoms if infected.” Koster concluded.

A booster shot would help with any completed type of vaccination at this point.
