Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport is celebrating the arrival of the new look Tujuwan Airport Lounge. The white ribbon was cut by airport and airport lounge management in a ceremony earlier this week.
Bali Airport is pleased to welcome the newly renovated lounge back to the airport. Now featuring a ‘futuristic’ design with plenty of Balinese touches and additional capacity, the Tujuwan Lounge is the perfect place to rest up before a long flight.
Tujuwan Lounge is operated by a company called PT Jasa Angkasa Semesta, referred to as JAS. The President Commissioner of JAS, Hermn Prayitno, said told reporters that the name for the lounge comes from the words tujuh and awan, meaning seven and cloud, which together translate to English to mean Seventh Heaven. They chose the name because it reflects maximum comfort, enjoyment and satirisation felt by visitors to the lounge. Tujuwan can also mean ‘goal’.
Prayitno explained, “We are very enthusiastic about presenting a lounge that looks fresher with a futuristic concept and interior design that blends the natural beauty of Bali at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali Airport.”
The Regional CEO of Angkasa Pura Indonesia, the state-owned company that oversees many of Indonesia’s international airports, also spoke to the media. Wahyudi shared that the opening of the Tujuwan Lounge is a clear symbol of Angkasa Pura Indonesia’s commitment to providing the best facilities to passengers.
Wahyudi explained, “We understand that air travel is not only about transportation but also a comprehensive experience. The presence of Tujuwan Lounge is expected to provide a more comfortable, exclusive, and enjoyable atmosphere for passengers. Once again, congratulations to PT JAS.”
He added, “The Tujuwan Lounge presented by JAS is an important picture for tourists to see of how beautiful Bali is with its hospitality and good service from Indonesia. Therefore, we really appreciate the presence of the Tujuwan Lounge, which is getting bigger and more beautiful.”
The renovation works took six months to complete, and the official relaunch and new look have been timed perfectly to celebrate the New Year. The young now features soft lines and curves and offers a really natural, earthy feel in an otherwise intense airport environment.
The design team has been sure to implement plenty of nods to Balinese cultural heritage to help tourists soak in all of the island’s goodness until the very last moment of their departure. The lounge features plenty of Endek textile motifs and soft, warm lighting that brings a sense of homeliness to the space.
The lounge offers 257 seats, with 168 seats in the main area and a further 89 seats in the extension area on the 3rd floor.
Tujuwan Lounge guests have access to an unlimited buffet and a free-flow bar, and there are two VIP rooms for those who wish to secure some extra privacy. The young now features a smoking room, shower room and complete digital access meaning guests only have to scan their boarding pass to enter the space.
Prayitno concluded, “We hope that the presence of Tujuwan Lounge can improve service to passengers, make every trip more memorable, and provide a new standard for a unique and exclusive experience.”
As Bali is set to see its busiest year on record for tourism in 2025, leaders are working to improve the quality of tourism experiences and improve public safety.
Tourists arriving at Bali Airport this month will see heightened biosecurity measures as the province moves to put protocols in place to minimize the risk of the spread of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV).
The virus, which has symptoms similar to that of the common cold and flu, has been spreading rapidly in China and Malaysia.
The General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, has confirmed that increased screening measures are in place to help keep passengers safe.
He told reporters, “We have installed three thermal scanner units, two at the international arrival terminal and one at the domestic arrival terminal.”
“We are also coordinating with the Health Quarantine Center (BBKK) to anticipate potential suspect cases. If there are suspect passengers, we will hand them over to BBKK for further processing, including isolation at the BBKK clinic.”
