Police in Bali have been increasing nightly patrols in top tourist resort areas to help mitigate potential crimes against tourists.
Bali has been named the best destination in the world in 2026, and with more than 7 million international tourists set to visit the island by the end of the year, safety is a top priority for leaders.

The South Kuta Police have confirmed that they conducted spot and search patrols at several vulnerable locations in South Kuta on Saturday, 14th February, through to the early hours of Sunday morning. The patrols focused on Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai in Benoa Village due to the rise in illegal racing and street crime in the area.
Benoa is one of the most popular vacation destinations in South Bali, and is the destination of choice for many young families and older couples.
Benoa Port has also undergone a redevelopment and is now the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub, and will continue to evolve into a world-class cruise destination, which is why police units are focusing so heavily on this area.
The patrol was led by South Kuta Police Chief AKP Muhammad Bhayangkara Putra Sejati and involved 26 personnel. During the patrol, officers monitored traffic flow and movement to ensure there were no illegal racing activities.
Illegal street racing has typically involved local youth, though foreigners have been known to get involved, too. The police on duty also inspected two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles, including roadworthiness, completeness of documents, and inspection of seats and trunks.

AKP Sejati told reporters, "This activity is a preventive measure to protect the safety of road users and create a safe and conducive situation in the South Kuta jurisdiction.”
Speaking to the Head of Public Relations of Denpasar Police, First Inspector I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, said that in response to the increasing number of street crimes, Denpasar Police will continue to work together with the Sector Police and Traffic Police to intensify night patrols across South Badung Regency, which includes Benoa, Nusa Dua, and Uluwatu.
First, Inspector Jaya told reporters, "Road patrols are carried out routinely by joint personnel, targeting main roads, residential areas, busy centers, youth hangouts, and locations with minimal lighting.”
He added, "We're not just conducting surveillance, but also providing humane public order and security advice to the public to remain vigilant and to immediately report any crime they witness or experience.”
Tourists traveling in Bali’s busiest nightlife and tourist areas will see more police officers out on patrol over the coming weeks. This includes nightlife hotspots like Kuta, Canggu, and Uluwatu. Last week, North Kuta Police conducted patrols around Jalan Raya Kerobokan, Pengubengan Kauh, Bumbak, the Canggu Shortcut, and the length of the Tibubeneng-Canggu route.

Following the Tuesday night patrol, North Kuta Police Chief, Commissioner I Ketut Agus Pasek Sudina, shared, “We remind residents to always be alert and look after their valuables, especially not to carry shoulder bags or other valuables that could attract the attention of pickpockets.”
He added, “We hope that through these patrols, the crime rate in North Kuta can be reduced, and the public can feel safer and more comfortable when carrying out activities at night.”

Tourists who are traveling to Bali are reminded that the island is one of the safest destinations in Southeast Asia.
However, this does not mean that tourists can completely switch off, vigilance and awareness are always necessary. It is essential that tourists take out fully comprehensive travel and medical insurance prior to traveling to Bali.

In the unlikely event that a tourist becomes the victim of a crime in Bali, a formal report to the police must be made as quickly as possible.
Bali Police can be contacted on 110, and accommodation providers as well as local Balinese pecalang security teams are always on hand to support tourists in the event of the unexpected.

There should be regular daily patrols instead of occasional blitzes.
For tourist hot spots, foot patrols where possible would be the most effective.
