Bali lovers are constantly on the lookout for the next best hidden gem, especially when it comes to spots in nature.
Outdoor adventurers must look no further than the newly opened Temesi Waterfall, close to Ubud, for a crowd-free waterfall hidden deep in the jungle.
Temesi Waterfall in Temesi Village in Gianyar Regency, just a short drive from Ubud, has been opened to the public for just over two months.
In this time, this hidden gem has been dazzling tourists and is set to impress thousands more as the high season approaches.
Speaking to reporters, the manager of Temesi Waterfall, Kadek Sindu, said that this destination had been visited by around ten groups of tourists, with an average of twenty visitors per day in March.
“It is very encouraging to see the positive response from visitors.” Sindu said, adding, “Some have returned several times because of the unique and stunning natural beauty.”
A group of tourists from Uruguay were among the first to visit the waterfall. They told managers of their ‘enchantment’ at the exotic panorama and the majesty of the waterfall.
The local community that has opened the waterfall to the public has been sure to maintain the cleanliness of the surrounding environment for tourist comfort. Managers routinely clean the area before and during tourists’ visits.
Tourism managers at Temesi Waterfall have confirmed that they have installed nets to catch trash and debris that may flow from further upstream.
Temesi Waterfall is open from 8.30 am until 5.30 pm every day.
Sindu told reporters that he and the team are trying to increase promotions to attract more visitors. Collaborations with other tourism services like hotels will also carried out to boost this up-and-coming attraction.
Tourists can expect to see Temesi Waterfall advertised far and wide. But in the meantime, it’s easy enough to find.
Temesi Waterfall is on Google Maps, and the directions are reliable. At the entrance, there is a big bamboo structure with ‘Temesi Waterfall’ written in colorful writing and plenty of parking spaces.
Temesi Waterfall is a scenic 35-minute drive from the center of Ubud. Tourists should bring their swimming gear, and towels as this is a waterfall calling out to be jumped into!
To make this a full day trip from Ubud, be sure to schedule a stop off at Goa Gajah, which sits exactly half way between central Ubud and Temesi Waterfall.
Goa Gajah is a stunning Balinese Hindu temple and cave complex. Famed for its ancient carvings, old trees with gnarly roots, and beautifully kept gardens and ground, Goa Gajah is a must-visit for culture-curious tourists in Bali.
The cave itself is said to date back as far as the 9th Century. As a temple complex, it is essential for tourists to wear a sarong and sash throughout their visit and wear a modest top.
All tourists visiting Bali’s sacred sites are being reminded of temple etiquette at the moment due to a rise in the number of tourists flouting and disrespecting the rules.
For a full day of chasing waterfalls, tourists should schedule the first stop off at Temesi Waterfall before heading off to Aan Secret Waterfall.
This is another community-managed tourism initiative that has impressed tourists from all around the world.
Like Temesi Waterfall, Aan Waterfall rarely sees high crowds and there is always the chance of having the whole place to yourself.
Kanto Lampo Waterfall is one of the most popular waterfalls in Gianyar Regency and should certainly be added to a waterfall-packed adventure.
Tibumana Waterfall is pretty impressive, too, but for a really underrated gem, be sure to drive a little further up Bakbakan Village to Taman Sari Waterfall and Natural Pool.
This is a dreamy spot for a swim, a picnic, and a lazy afternoon soaking in the sounds of the jungle in the heart of Bali.
