Exploring Bali’s Nusa Dua resort has just become easier.
The world-famous luxury coastal vacation resort has just launched a new electric shuttle bus service that will help tourists navigate their holiday with total ease.

The Nusa Dua is managed as a resort area by the InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC). The ITDC has teamed up with PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero) and Kaliata to launch a trial electric shuttle bus service across the resort. The new service will operate daily over the next month, with the first departure at 9 am and the final drop off at 10 pm.
The launch of the new service was attended by the Head of the Bali Provincial Transportation Agency, I Kadek Mudarta, the Main Director of Kalista, Albert Aulia Ilyas, the General Manager of The Nusa Dua, I Made Agus Dwiatmika, and the Main Director of Xapiens, Muhamad Nursahid.
Agus Dwiatmika told reporters, “This electric transportation trial initiative is a concrete step by ITDC to strengthen Nusa Dua’s commitment to becoming a sustainable and low-emission tourism area.”
He added, “In line with the Bali Net Zero Emission 2045 vision, we want to make The Nusa Dua a living laboratory for green destination development in Indonesia, where innovation, energy efficiency, and environmental awareness go hand in hand with the growth of quality tourism.”
Albert Aulia Ilyas told the media, “This collaboration is part of Kalista’s commitment to continue supporting the realization of #EmissionsFreeBali. Through this initiative, Kalista is promoting the use of technology as a foundation for creating an efficient and sustainable transportation system.”
The electric shuttle buses use a range of technologies to keep Nusa Dua moving. The technology installed in the buses helps ensure the operation runs on time and smoothly.
For example, buses can monitor vehicle location via GPS, track energy efficiency and operational costs, and monitor driver behavior and driving patterns, including harsh braking events for efficiency improvement analysis.

The buses have previously been used as part of a collaboration with the Bali Provincial Government and Trans Metro Dewata, a trial which also generated positive results.
Tourists in Nusa Dua who wish to use the electric shuttle bus service in the next month are advised to check with their accommodation hosts. Over the trial period, a series of different test routes, itineraries, and operational patterns will be in circulation, and tourism operators in the Nusa Dua will be best placed to share daily updates.
Should the trial of the electric bus services in Nusa Dua be successful, tourists can anticipate it to become a permanent feature. Has just become the case in Sanur. Earlier this year, Sanur welcomed a trial electric bus service, which by August had become a permanent feature of Bali’s oldest vacation hotspot.

In August, the Denpasar City Government announced plans to invest in 12 electric shuttle buses, with operations expected before the end of 2025. During the trial period and shortly after the shift to permanent service, six electric shuttle buses were in operation.
The shuttle bus service operates from 6 am to 10 pm, with the last service departing the route at 9 pm. Each bus can carry 10-12 passengers. The route starts at Sanur Tourism Junior High School (SMP), stopping at Sanur Sindu Market, Icon Mall, the Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) at Lake Poso, and onward to Mertasari Beach Parking.

Speaking in August, the Head of the Denpasar Transportation Office, Ketut Sriawan, told reporters that the shuttle bus service can provide multiple benefits to both tourists and locals in Sanur. Not only do bus users have access to improved public transport, but more space on the roads is freed up, alongside car parking spaces, since the public does not need to rely so heavily on their own vehicles.
Sriawan shared, “The target for electric bus passengers is tourists, workers in the area, and other consumers because parking exemptions accompany them on the road. So, the public and all are obliged to park in the parking pockets that have been determined.”
