A new direct flight service set to operate between Bali and Australia will change the way tourists from New South Wales go on vacation.
For the first time ever, starting in October 2025, Newcastle Airport will operate year-round international flights, and Bali is the number one destination.

Low-cost and Australian favorite airline Jetstar launched its first-ever commercial flight service from New South Wales’ Newcastle Airport way back in 2004. Fast forward to October 2025, and the airport will celebrate the launch of its first year-round international flight service, thanks to Jetstar’s new Newcastle-Denpasar service.
In a press statement the CEO of Newcastle Airport, Linc Horton, shared “Jetstar has been part of Newcastle Airport’s story from their very beginning and it’s only fitting that they’re the airline to take us into our international future.”
Adding “Announcing the availability of direct flights to Denpasar International Airport is a perfect way to kickstart a new era of international travel for the region.”
He continued “We are delighted to have Jetstar onboard to give Newcastle and the Greater Hunter its inaugural international wings from our new terminal. This new international connection to Bali is just the beginning, opening doors to even greater opportunities for the region, stimulating tourism, and strengthening ties between the Hunter region and Indonesia.”
Horton noted, “On a practical level, this new service saves our Bali-bound passengers the journey to Sydney and starts to solidify Newcastle Airport’s position as a genuine alternative for international travel.”
He revealed, “Our long-term plan is to grow our international network and we are working behind the scenes with several airlines about additional routes we may be able to provide.”
Australia’s Newcastle Airport is welcoming a whole new international terminal that is set for completion in August 2025.
The project is the keystone of the airport’s impressive AUD 250 million expansion development which was created in response to a growing need for accessible travel between Newcastle, the Greater Hunter, and even international destinations.
The new Newcastle-Bali flight with Jetstar will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The service offers holidaymakers and travelers access to more than 70,000 seats annually with a flight time of under six hours.
In a media statement the CEO of Jetstar Group Stephanie Tully shared “The new international route is an exciting milestone as Jetstar continues to significantly expand its network. We’re thrilled to be the airline to launch Newcastle’s first international flights in more than five years with our new direct service from Newcastle to Bali.

Adding “Jetstar is committed to making travel more accessible, and people living in and around Newcastle will no longer need to drive to other airports to fly overseas, which means more time and money can go toward their holiday.
“We want to thank Newcastle Airport and the NSW Government for their support in making travel more accessible.”

As Jetstar continues to expand its operations and flight connections throughout Australia and New Zealand, Jetstar Group has announced that big changes are required.
Qantas Group, which oversees Jetstar, announced on 11th June that it will be closing Jetstar Asia within a matter of months. Jetstar Asia Airlines operates out of Singapore Airport and utilizes the flight code 3K.

Qantas is resolute that Jetstar Asia flights will continue to operate for the next seven weeks though the schedule will be progressively reduced ahead of the final day of operations on 31st July 2025. The airline closure only impacts flights within Asia operated in and out of Singapore.
As the airline group specified in its press release, “Jetstar Airways will continue to fly from Australia into Asia including to all its popular destinations across Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Japan, and South Korea.”
