Minister Describes This Bali Beach As Truly Stunning

As a travel destination, Bali is a beach lovers paradise. From the pristine white stretches of sand in Nusa Dua to the rugged rocky coast of Uluwatu, through to the black sand beaches of Keramas and the deserted stretches of sand over in the west of the island, there is so much to explore.

Leaders have been visiting some of the most popular beaches on Nusa Penida this week and they are liking what they see.

During a visit to Nusa Penida the Indonesian Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, was accompanied by the Acting Governor of Bali Inspector General Made Mahendra Jaya, and the Regent of Klungkung I Nyoman Suwirta.

The trio took a tour of the island and visited Crystal Bay Beach. The beach is an impressive one and sees fewer visitors than the iconic Kelingking Beach and Diamond Beach.

The trio was taken aback by the beauty of Crystal Bay Beach which truly lived up to its glistening name during their visit. The Minister for Home Affairs told reporters “I am very happy to be able to see sunfish. The natural beauty of Nusa Penida’s underwater world is truly stunning,”

But the visit was far from a min vacation, the leaders were visiting the island to see for themselves what needs to be done in order to improve rescues and infrastructural management to support tourism development.

For months Regent Suwirta and other local leaders have been calling for more support from the central government to upgrade tourism facilities and public resources on the island.

Regent Suwirta explained that the island is facing fresh water shortages across local communities and that road infrastructure is in dire need of attention.

He said “We ask for the Minister’s support in resolving these problems. Hopefully, this visit will bring positive changes to Nusa Penida and promote the preservation of its natural beauty,”

Last month Regent Suwirta confirmed that he and his teams are working to establish Nusa Penida as a Geopark. The increased environmental protection would give the regency more agency when it comes to sustainable tourism development.

@sunrisevoyagers BEST PLACES to snorkel in Nusa Penida…only 45 mins away from Bali, this island is famous for its snorkeling! 🔸 Crystal Bay- has crystal clear water & was our favorite! It’s accessible by road and boat and has one of the few sandy beaches on the island; visit the left side of the bay for the best coral. 🔸 Manta Point Bay – you won’t want to miss this stop! Known for its year round manta rays visits 🔸 Gamat Bay – secluded beach, it’s harder to get to by land so the best access is by boat. Lots of fish and clear water with less tourist. 🔸 “The Wall” – located near Toya Pakeh Harbor & only accessible by boat, this drop off has beautiful corals, starfish and even sometimes Mola Mola fish!! 🤿 Its a favorite for divers! 📸We came specifically for the Manta Rays but unfortunately the waves were too big that day. So make sure you check tides before you go & have a few flexible back up dates just in case! ➡️ Follow @sunrisevoyagers for more Nusa Penida highlights! So proud of this brave girl! She is so comfortable in the water she can just dive right in 😍 we definitely believe it comes down to exposure, what do you think? #familytravel #nusapenida #bali #mantapoint #crystalbay #bucketlisttravel #snorkeling #traveltiktok #fyp ♬ 原聲 – buqicrew_official

The Regency is also on a mission to improve tourist safety on the island after seeing a steep rise in accidents involving visitors this year.

The Head of the Klungkung Tourism Office, Ni Made Sulistiawati, has previously confirmed that more security and tourism officers will be stationed around Nusa Penida’s busiest tourist attractions.

Leaders have also committed to improving safety mechanisms at popular landmarks like Broken Beach and Kelingking Beach where tourists have been severely injured.

Nusa Penida remains one of Bali’s most in-demand tourism attractions. Leaders have confirmed that between January and mid-July the island welcomes over 2.9 million tourists.

Targets had initially been set to just 900,000. It is easy to see why demand for travel experiences in Nusa Penida is soaring. As the Minister for Home Affairs stated, the destination is ‘truly stunning’.

For tourists looking for a quieter and more relaxed beach to enjoy in Nusa Penida, Crystal Bay is a great option.

Of course, go and visit Kelingking Beach, Broken Beach, and Diamond Beach but when it comes to kicking back in the sand and catching some sun, Crystal Bay is the place to be

@hiddenem.travels Just a 15 min walk from Crystal Bay Beach! Snorkeling off Crystal Bay is a must-do activity. The beauty is that there is such an abundance of marine life to explore that tourists don’t need to venture far from the shoreline to meet the underwater residents.

Turtles are regularly sighted in the waters off Crystal Bay and dozens of species of tropical fish.

Local legends say that dolphins even come into the bay on occasion too!

For a bit more adventure, be sure to explore neighboring Pandan Beach and the even lesser-known Puyung Beach but remember to wear decent shoes to tackle the rugged trail to the shoreline!
