Bali authorities have detained an expat named Nicholas from Denmark who was raging at people on Jalan Duyung, Sanur area.
The Head of Denpasar Public Civil Service Officer, I Dewa Gede Anom Sayoga said that the Danish man was detained on Monday afternoon after receiving a report from the local people in that area. “The man who allegedly has a mental disorder is now being detained at Public Civil Service office for further investigation,” said Anom Sayoga on Monday (29/3).
Sayoga explained that he didn’t receive a report regarding any damage to the nearby property or people that was caused by the man. “According to the information from the people, the man always got mad when somebody tried to approach and help him while he was on the streets, but thankfully no one was injured” Sayoga added.
The authority is now trying to investigate the person to make sure that he wasn’t just pretending to have a mental disorder.
The medical team is currently checking his condition to decide whether they should send him to the Mental Hospital in Bangli or let him go. “We assumed that he might be depressed, we will also communicate this case to the Danish Consulate to find a better solution for this man” Sayoga concluded.
He also reminds all the foreign embassies in Bali to keep monitoring their citizens during their stay in order to avoid problems involving their citizens.
