Man Arrested For Attempting To Assault A Police Officer In Bali

A 29-year-old man named Anak Agung Gede Agung has been arrested for attempting to assault a police officer in Denpasar.

The Head of the South Denpasar Criminal Investigation Bureau, AKP Hadimastika Karsito Putra, confirmed that they detained the suspect after he attempted to assault a police officer named Aipda I Dewa Gede Agus Surya Usadha (aged 36) with a sword.

“Yes, the suspect was arrested the same day he attempted to assault the victim,” AKP Hadimastika said.

The incident occurred when the police officer arrived at his ex-wife’s home in Jalan Diponegoro Gang Ulam, Denpasar on Saturday (11/2) at 1:30 pm to pick up his child. The divorce agreement allows him to spend time with the child during weekends.

Unfortunately, his ex-wife refused to let their child go with him and began to shout for help in front of her house. Her brother, the suspect, immediately came out of the house and threatened the victim with a sword.

The victim then gave a warning shot in the air with his firearm to prevent the suspect from assaulting.  

This frightened the suspect, so he dropped the sword and surrendered himself. The victim immediately called the South Denpasar Police Department, who soon arrested the suspect.
