A large fire has destroyed six homes and multiple vehicles in Denpasar.
The blaze started in the Candra neighborhood of Denpasar friday afternoon at around 12:30 pm.
Kasubaghumas Denpasar Police Iptu Ketut Sukadi said the fire was possibly triggered by an electrical short circuit.
“It is suspected that it was a short circuit of electricity. Houses burned were number 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, and number 48,” said Iptu Ketut Sukadi, Friday (6/26).
Witness, Yogik Handoko said he was sitting in front of his house when the fire started.
The witness stated he saw a large flash of sparks in house number 38. “At that time the witness also saw an explosion and the witness saw a fire flowing from the cable like fireworks,” said Iptu Ketut Sukadi.
A woman came running out of the burning house and turned off the fuse but by then the fire had spread to the next house.
That is when the witness shouted for help.
Local residents who saw the incident struggled to try and extinguish the blaze but it did not take long before the fire spread to several other houses in the vicinity.
The fire was finally extinguished at around 2:15 pm by fire fighters from Denpasar and Badung.
There were no fatalities or injuries in the fire and losses are still being evaluated.
