Tourists traveling to Bali in 2026 are being asked to step out of their comfort zone. Here at The Bali Sun, we see this as a great thing.
Increasingly, tourism leaders in Indonesia are encouraging tourists to create multi-stop vacation itineraries, and one spot in particular complements Bali exceptionally well.

Komodo National Park may be one of the most magical places on earth. The only place in the world where the incredible Komodo Dragons roam the earth, Komodo National Park is a bucket list destination for all wildlife lovers. In 2026 and beyond, Bali tourists will find it increasingly accessible and affordable to arrange trips to Komodo National Park.
The gateway to the magical landscape is Labuan Bajo, which has long been touted as one of Indonesia’s five new Balis by the Ministry of Tourism.
Bali is nothing shy of a life-changing travel destination. For tourists who want to kick back and enjoy a relaxed beach vacation, it ticks all the boxes, but for those who want a little more culture and a little more adventure, the province offers a lifetime of opportunities to explore.
In 2026 and beyond, Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism wants to see tourists become even more ambitious in their dreaming, because more is possible. The Ministry of Tourism wants to see more tourists explore Bali and add on other destinations to their itineraries, and Komodo National Park is a perfect example of just how easy and exciting these multi-stop vacations can become.
Komodo National Park has been named as one of the top 20 best destinations for travel in 2026 by the BBC. The annual guide highlights the world’s most highly recommended and interesting destinations that offer genuinely inspiring travel experiences, support local communities, protect the environment, and uplift cultural heritage.
The BBC shared, “To compile our list, we enlisted the help of BBC staff, our trusted journalists, and some of the world’s leading authorities on sustainable travel to identify places that enthusiastically welcome visitors, and where your trip can make a positive impact.”
Komodo National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has been described by the BBC as “the greatest wildlife theaters on earth.” During a guided tour of the park, visitors are pretty much guaranteed a sighting of wild Komodo dragons.
In 2026, Komodo National Park will honor its 45th anniversary, and there will be a series of new conservation initiatives launched to mark the occasion. These include stricter measures to protect the wildlife and the environment from the impacts of tourism.

Visiting Labuan Bajo and accessing Komodo National Park has never been easier, with increased accessibility from Bali and internationally, it’s hard to say no to the opportunity to visit.
Transfers are increasingly affordable, too, helping make those vacation budgets go even further. As the BBC explains, “Better access, with direct flights from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur to the gateway city of Labuan Bajo, makes it easier to reach.”

In fact, flights from Bali to Labuan Bajo operate up to six times daily. It is also possible to fly to Labuan Bajo domestically from Jakarta, Lombok, Surabaya, Kupang, and more. In terms of international connectivity, there are regular flights from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore to Labuan Bajo, offering tourist plenty of options to start their adventure off with ease. International connectivity means that tourists have the option to start their multi-stop vacation either in Labuan Bajo or in Bali.
The BBC added, “Travelers can explore by boat, stay at eco-lodges on nearby islands, or sail among secluded bays on a traditional phinisi boat for a deeper connection with the archipelago.”

The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and the national tourism board, Wonderful Indonesia, recently launched an itinerary called ‘Bajo, Bali, Beyond Beautiful’, and the travel plan has already proven to be a hit. Wonderful Indonesia shared, “From meeting the ancient Komodo dragons to finding serenity in a sacred Melukat Ceremony, every corner whispers stories of nature, culture, and timeless beauty.”
The itinerary stops at must-visit landmarks and attractions within Komodo National Park, and across Labuan Bajo and Bali, including Sebayur Island, Taka Makassar, Padar Island, Pink Beach, Rinca Island, Taman Beji Griya Waterfall, and Saraswati Temple in Ubud.
