Kintamani Adventure Center Makes For An Epic Bali Family Vacation Day

Bali lovers looking for an affordable, family-friendly day out in Bali should look no further than The Grand Lagunas.

Located in the integrated forest tourism area of Kintamani, this outdoor adventure center offers super fun activities for families of all ages every day of the week.

Outdoor Adventure Center in The Forest

This little-known adventure centre is a must-visit for families on vacation and groups of friends looking for some seriously good fun in the great outdoors.

While Kintamani is best known for its wealth of coffee shops and, of course, views of Mount Batur and Lake Batur, Kintamani is also one of the most densely forested areas of Bali.

The landscape provides the perfect environment for outdoor adventure. With ATV rides, zip lines, flying swing rides, high ropes courses, jungle trampolines, and more, families can have an adventure-packed day for a fraction of the cost they would pay back home.

Speaking to reporters, the manager of The Grand Lagunas, Eka, explained, “The idea of this family holiday ride aims to promote sustainable tourism and nature conservation.”

Eka added, “The establishment of these rides started from the initiative of local communities in collaboration with the local government and several non-governmental organizations that care about the environment. We developed a tourism concept that combines environmental education and family recreation.”

The Rainbow Slide has to be one of the most giggle-inducing activities at The Grand Lagunas.

You can experience the colorful slide by hopping into a rubber tire and whizzing down the jungle trackway.

Plenty of staff are on hand to ensure that no one gets stuck and to keep a close eye on little ones so that grown-ups can have fun, too.

Safety is a top priority at The Grand Lagunas, and only three people are allowed to go on the Rainbow Slide at a time.

Many of the activities at The Grand Lagunas are included in the day pass rate. However, some activities incur an extra fee and are well worth spending a little extra.

The Flying Fox Zipline is absolutely not to be missed. Tourists, strapped in with a safety harness, can fly through the Kintamani forest, breathing in the fresh mountain air and taking in the lush green vistas.

The Sultan Basket is a really unique activity that allows tourists to get comfy in giant swing seats that are then slowly pulled on high ropes through the forest canopy.

This is a truly unique way to connect to the forest, and the feeling of being elevated and gentling swinging is really meditative. The Sultan Bakst is charred at an extra IDR 80,000 per person.

Now, on the adrenaline field, fun. ATV rides in Bali remain, to this day, one of the most popular adventures and outdoor activities for tourists.

While most tourists will book a day of ATV riding and rafting along the Ayung River just outside of Ubud, at The Grand Laguna, tourists have the opportunity to whizz through the forest on ATVs (almost always) free from thick mud!

The guided ATV rides start from IDR 900,000 per person or DIR 1,200,000 for two people sharing. This includes the guide, shoe hire, helmet, and elbow protectors.

The ATV route goes through the Kintamani forest, with stops along the way at beautiful lookout points for those all-important travel photos.

Visits to The Grand Lagunas in Kintamani usually last 2-3 hours, depending on the number of activities each group chooses to take part in. The center is open from 8 am until 5 pm, seven days a week. Booking in advance is highly advisable, especially for activities like ATV rides.

There is plenty of space for everyone at The Grand Lagunas, and even as the high season approaches, the center is ready to welcome a greater influx of visitors and ensure that everyone has a memorable experience.

Eka told reporters “, on weekdays or normal days, there can be 50 to 100 people. But on weekends or long holidays, there can be up to 400 to 500 people. It could be eight times that. This is also suitable because the target market is local, so it’s suitable for long domestic weekends on holiday to Bali.”

He concluded, “Our target market is domestic tourists; we offer friendly prices. The rules and facilities we provide are also comparable. We provide a welcome drink, there is no limit on playing time, and visitors are allowed to bring food from outside. So, apart from tourist attractions, maybe that’s the reason tourists are interested.”

International tourists are, of course, welcome at The Grand Lagunas and are encouraged to visit while they are in Kintamani.
