An Indian National named Pradeep Kumar has been detained by a Public Civil Service Officer for extorting local people in Denpasar.
The Head of Denpasar Public Civil Service Officer, I Dewa Gede Anom Sayoga said that officers detained the Indian man after receiving several reports from locals regarding the man’s behavior recently.
“He extorted cigarettes and sometimes money from the local people in several locations in Denpasar,” Sayoga said on Monday afternoon (5/4).
Sayoga explained that Kumar was detained by the officer at one of the local food vendors on Jalan Sudirman, Denpasar on Monday.
“Sometimes Kumar didn’t even pay his meals from the local food vendors, and insisted other customers of the vendor give him cash,” Sayoga added.
According to the information from nearby residents, they often spotted Kumar roaming around the streets and he also seemed confused.
The officer decided to detain him inside the Public Civil Service Office in Denpasar for further investigation.
“We decided to detain him inside our office to collect more information, before communicating the case to the Indian Embassy in Denpasar and the Immigration Officer to take care of the man” Sayoga concluded.
Previously on April 3rd, officers also detained a local man named Feri Simbolon who was penalizing local people on Jalan Gunung Sanghyang. Feri admitted that he did it due to personal financial problems that he has been experiencing since he lost his job.
