COVID-19 cases in Jembrana, West Bali have surged over the past few days. As a result, a family in Pulukan village lost two members in one day, totalling 10 COVID-19 caused deaths in Jembrana this month.
A 71-year-old man died on Tuesday (29/12) after testing positive to the virus. He had been receiving treatment at the Negara Public Hospital since December 26, 2020.
The 44-year-old son of the deceased was rushed to Negara Public hospital, after displaying similar symptoms, where he died four hours later.
The Director of Negara Public Hospital, I Gusti Bagus Ketut Oka Parwata, confirmed that both swab tests resulted reactive with COVID-19.
Accordingly, the spokesman of Jembrana Covid-19 Handling Task Force, I Gusti Agung Putu Arisantha, verified two additional deaths caused by COVID-19 in the Pulukan area.
According to data from the Task Force, the death rate from COVID-19 in Jembrana has increased this month.
“The patients also suffered comorbid conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and acute kidney injury prior to the infection of COVID-19” Arisantha concluded.
He urges the public to strictly follow all prevention protocols to avoid transmission of the virus.
