The Ultramarathon event ‘Run To Care’ 2021 successfully raised a total of USD $91,550 (IDR 1,3 billion) for charity.
The Director of National SOS Children’s Village Indonesia, Gregor Hadi Nitiharjo confirmed that a charity event to raise funds for children who lost their parents due to Covid-19 collected almost USD $100,000 with a total of 900 participants who joined the annual ultramarathon event that was held on Sunday (28/11).
“The Run To Care event was initiated to help support children across the country who were financially affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, where each child will receive around USD $352 (IDR 5 million) through this program,” Nitiharjo said.
He was also grateful that this event was supported by government’s institutions such as the Bali provincial government, police department and local people in the area.
He also plans to hold a similar event in 2022 to help more children in Indonesia.
“We plan to hold the same event next year and I hope participants from all nationalities in Bali can join this charity event as many of our children still need our support to get a proper protection, education and health services despite their financial inability,” Nitiharjo concluded.
