Central Government Compensates Victims Of Bali Bombings

The nearly two-decade-long wait for the victims of the Bali Bombings has been responded to by the Indonesian Government. Through the Witness and Victim’s Protection Agency (LPSK), the state has compensated 36 victims of the first and second terrorist attacks with a combined value of USD $557,000 (IDR 7.8 billion).

The compensation has been granted by the Head of LPSK, Hasto Atmojo Suroyo, and Bali Vice Governor, Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati (Cok Ace) at the Governor’s Office Denpasar on Thursday (4/2), with the Deputy Chief of LPSK, Susilaningtyas, in attendance.

“We decided to compensate 29 victims of Bali bombing I incident and 7 victims of Bali bombing II” Hasto said.

On this occasion, 19 families who lost their loved ones to the attack will receive USD 17,800, 10 people who faced serious injury will receive USD 15,000, those who faced moderate wounds receive USD 8,185, and those who faced minor injury receive USD 5,338.

The policy is aligned with Consitution Number 5 Year 2018 about terrorism.

Additionally, Hasto said that the compensation program will be granted until June 2021.

He reminds all the victims to apply for compensation before the deadline by calling the Whatsapp number of LPSK at +62857 7001 0048 to get a quick response from officials.

Meanwhile, people often visit the memorial on Jalan Legian Kuta that has been built to remember the innocent lives taken. Every year, people place flowers and send prayers to the victims.
