Budget-Conscious Bali Tourists Can Double Travel Value In Yogyakarta

Share The Article

As Bali becomes an increasingly in-demand travel destination, travelers are starting to expand their horizons to more areas of the Indonesian archipelago.

As a culture, authentic connection, and affordability become more important to tourists than ever, Indonesia is offering explorers the chance to tick all these travel itinerary criteria boxes and more.

The average stay in Bali by an international tourist is just 3-nights. This is because many tourists from neighboring countries visit Bali for a long weekend vacation.

However, most long-haul international tourists will stay in the country for 10-14 nights.

With this in mind, there is plenty of opportunity to travel to all of Bali’s must-visit cultural and historical hotspots, as well as the most famous beaches, and have time to spare.

This extra time could be assigned to visiting lesser-known areas of the province, such as Amed, Lovina, or the West Bali National Park, or it could be an opportunity to visit a whole other Indonesian province and dive a little deeper into the wonders of the archipelago.

Travel platform Agoda has confirmed that Yogyakarta in Central Java offers some of the most competitive and high-value room rates in all of Indonesia.

The cultural city of Yogyakarta offers tourists the chance to visit incredible destinations like the temples of Borobudur, wander through the historical markets of Jalan Malioboro, and step foot on the formidable Mount Merapi volcano.

The latest travel figures show that Yogyakarta has replaced Surabaya as the most affordable travel destination in Indonesia, and it is listed amongst the most affordable travel destinations in all of Asia.

The list of the nine most affordable destinations in Southeast Asia includes Hat Yai in Thailand, which recorded the lowest average room rate of IDR 570,000, followed by Yogyakarta, Kuching in Malaysia, and Siargao Island in the Philippines.

With an average hotel room rate of IDR 603,000 throughout the year, Yogyakarta offers Bali lovers the chance to connect the dots between two of Indonesia’s most significant cultural and spiritual destinations.

In a press interview, Gede Gunawan, who is Agoda’s Senior Country Director in Indonesia, shared, “In the midst of global economic challenges, tourists are certainly looking for valuable experiences without having to dig too deep into their pockets. Yogyakarta, with all its charm, offers a unique experience that is not only rich in culture but also pocket-friendly.”

Other destinations on Agoda’s list of the cheapest hotels in Asia include Dalat in Vietnam, Narita in Japan, Goa in India, Taichung in Taiwan, and Busan in South Korea.

For Bali lovers looking to add an extra budget-friendly country to their long-haul trip to Bali, South Korea and, specifically, the city of Busan are ideal options.

Jeju Air has just launched a new direct flight service between I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport and Busan, making it easier than ever for tourists to explore the wonders of Indonesia and the vibrant culture of South Korea.

Tourism leaders in Bali and within the central government are on a mission to promote Bali as a destination for culturally respectful and sustainable tourism.

They are also working to establish the province as a tourism launchpad, a gateway to yet more incredible destinations around the country.

Over the coming months and years, Bali lovers will be presented with more opportunities to both deepen their travel experiences within Bali and travel across more neighboring provinces.

It is possible to fly directly from Bali to Yogyakarta on daily, low cost flights. Or for a more land-based adventure, tourists can drive from central Bali to the west, catch a ferry from Gilimanuk, and explore the East Java region, including Mount Ijen before driving onwards to Yogyakarta.

Looking east of Bali, tourists will soon have even more opportunities to explore East Nusa Tenggara and West Nusa Tenggara, provinces that are home to world-famous wonders like Lombok, Komodo National Park, and Kelimutu National Park.

In a new partnership, tourism leaders from Bali will share their expertise with tourism developers in the Lesser Munda region to elevate the newly named Bali Nusra region as a world-class travel destination.

For this those ignorant travelers, Bali is NOT only Indonesia. Central and East Java offer the soul of Indonesia. Bali is just a playground that is already over taken by some foreign entitled tourists who feel that they cannot do no wrong.

Go to Yogja and getting ripped off at the temples there? And then the annoying and tiering 1km snakewalk at the end through pasar selling "souvenirs" hearing "hey mister" a thousand times.

Make it easier to get alcohol in the Muslim areas of the country and the tourists will come. Oh yes you can get an overpriced drink in a ritzy hotel in these areas but that's not what tourists want.

The averages are meaningless.

There's too many variables. Class of hotel Location Room size Inclusions and the price of extras/variations Seasonality..........
