A 60-year-old British national named Kenneth Daniel Kutsch has been arrested by Bali police for drug possession.
The Head of the Badung Drugs Investigation Bureau, Iptu I Putu Budi Artama confirmed that the suspect was arrested along with his partner named Ni Ketut Dewi Seniawati (aged 55). “The suspect and his partner were arrested along with the package of marijuana that he had just received.” Iptu Artama said during a press conference on Monday (24/5).
An investigation about Kenneth who has been running an accommodation business in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara began when the officers were tipped off about a transaction that the suspect had to receive the drugs on Pererenan Beach, Mengwi. After following Kenneth for several days, the officers finally arrested the suspect and his partner on Friday evening (7/5) around 11:00pm from a restaurant that was located in the Mengwi area.
“When we arrested him we seized marijuana weighing 118 grams, split into several packages and worth around USD 551 (IDR 8 million). And according to the information that we’ve found, we’ve assumed that the suspect is involved in drug trafficking in the Bali area.” Iptu Artama added. The suspects would possibly be sentenced with at least 12 years imprisonment and USD 551,000 (IDR 8 billion) fines for violating the Indonesian Narcotics Constitution.
