Bali’s Bangli Regency is one of the island’s most overlooked travel destinations.
With more focus on the tourism hotspots of Canggu and Uluwatu in Badung Regency, or Ubud in Gianyar Regency, savvy tourists would be wise to explore Bangli Regency.

Home to significant cultural landmarks and destinations like Penglipuran Village, Bangli Regency is home to some of the most impressive waterfalls in all of Bali. The landscape of the island of Bali is often observed from the ridge to the reef.
From the tip of towering volcanic peaks, the landscape can be followed along ridge lines all the way through the coral reefs off the island’s coast. In the valleys of these ridgelines, Bali’s sacred rivers flow, and as these waterways flow downstream, there are numerous obstacles and ravines to navigate, resulting in mesmerizing waterfalls.
Due to its proximity to Mount Batur and Mount Agung, as well as Mount Baturkaru, Bangli Regency is home to dozens of magical waterfalls, each just waiting to be explored.
In fact, Bangli Regency is home to dozens of incredible waterfalls that no nature lover visiting Bali could skip during their next visit to the island.
For a real challenge, it would be possible to cram upwards of ten into an adventure-filled day trip in Bangli Regency, but to enjoy the scenery and move at nature’s pace truly, it’s best to pick just a few or tick off all ten over two or three days.
The most famous waterfall in Bangli Regency is perhaps the most famous waterfall in all of Bali, and that is Kanto Lampo Waterfall. If prospective visitors don’t know Kanto Lampo Waterfall by name, they’ll know it by sight.
This is Bali’s super viral waterfall, where everyone gets to feel like a Bali travel influencer. This is the same waterfall where local guides frequently go viral for their unwavering commitment to helping visitors capture the perfect photo beneath the cascades.
These guys even advise visitors on the best poses; they are the best in the business!
Entry to Kanto Lampo Waterfall is IDR 25,000 per person, and it is best to bring cash. Jumping in the water is hard to resist, so be sure to bring swimwear, a towel, and a change of clothes.
The waterfall itself can be accessed by a well-paved path that features lots of stairs, so sturdy shoes are recommended.
The Kanto Lampo management always advises tourists to bring a waterproof phone case with them, as well as a dry bag for other valuables, or at the very least a plastic bag.
Next on the list has to be Tibumana Waterfall, which is another of Bali’s most well-known cascades. What makes Tibumana Waterfall so special is that, depending on the water flow, there are either one or two cascades to play beneath.
As is the case with all of Bali’s famous waterfalls, it is best to arrive super early in the morning to avoid the crowds, or stop by late in the afternoon when all the crowds have started to head back to their hotels and resorts.

Tukad Cepung Waterfall is another highly Instagrammable spot in Bangli Regency, accessible via a lush, green, and wonderfully cool jungle hike. The waterfall is managed by local community members, who often accompany tourists along the hike to ensure they don’t get lost.
This is a truly magical spot, as to reach the waterfall itself, visitors must hike down the steps to the bottom of the ravine and then walk along the riverbed. It’s a real adventure, and to walk between the ravine walls towards the fast-flowing waterfall is utterly exhilarating. Be sure to bring shoes that are OK to get wet, or water sports shoes.

Be sure to bring cash to pay the small entry fee, as there are no card machines available at Tukad Cepung. A top tip is to schedule a visit to Tukad Cepung Waterfall after an early morning visit to Penglipuran Village. It’s the perfect way to cool off and immerse even deeper into the wonders of Bangli Regency.
