When it comes to luxury travel in Bali, it is hard to know where to begin.
Are you looking for the ultra-luxurious, golden-gilded experience, or are you seeking something a little more grounded, culturally inspired, and just as indulgent?
In terms of wellness and luxury travel experiences in Bali, the island’s five-star hotels each offer something distinct and highly sought after; you really do just have to take your pick.
At the Four Seasons Resort Bali, in Sayan, located just outside of Ubud, the island’s sacred rivers have inspired this world-class wellness and holistic health retreat.
Aptly named the Sacred River Spa, the Four Seasons Resort Bali is calling in a new era of wellness travel that will take guests on journeys through their inner and outer landscapes toward a place of rejuvenation, healing, and peace.
The new spa has been created with great intention and the utmost attention to detail. Featuring artwork from Indonesian artists and master craftspeople and complimentary perfectly with an earthy, natural color palette constructed using natural materials, guests’ nervous systems instantly come back into balance just by stepping over the threshold of the spa.
The Sacred River Spa has been designed with the guests in mind. The space has been created to maximize the feeling of nature immersion, from the angle of the natural light to the sounds of the Sayan Valley, including the Ayung River and the green jungle surroundings.
The Ayung River, known to many tourists in Bali as the white water rafting river, is, in fact, the most sacred stream in the province as it is the longest and widest river that traverses the island.
Speaking to reporters, Luisa Anderson, regional spa director at Four Seasons Asia Pacific, shared, “There are few places in Bali where the unseen energies are as powerful as here in the Ayung River basin.”
She added, “It has been such a privilege to connect to these energies during this relaunch, not only through the ritualistic elements of many of the treatments but also through the sensitivities of the architecture, intent, and spiritual practices.”
“By integrating such ancient wisdom with cutting-edge well-being practices, the Sacred River Spa truly flows into a new era of holistic care.”
Anderson’s comments were echoed by Randy Shimabuku, the General Manager of the Four Seasons Resort Bali. He shared, “We are delighted to present the new look of Sacred River Spa. This tranquil retreat embodies our commitment to exceptional, personalized experiences that are deeply rooted in timeless Balinese traditions and culture.”
“We are proud to aid guests in the discovery of their unique path to serenity and renewal in the heart of the Sayan Valley.”
Bali’s wellness offerings will be taking center stage in 2025 as the new Sanur medical tourism area will become fully operational.
The mission is to see Bali become a world-class medical tourism destination but with a twist.
In an authentically Bali fashion, The Sanur will set itself apart from medical tourism destinations like Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Bangkok by facilitating integrated wellness and holistic health services alongside Western medical provisions.
The Bali International Hospital is set to open its doors to patients in early 2025, and hotels in the Sanur area and around the island are committing to leveling up their wellness offerings as demand for these kinds of experiences skyrockets.
Take Conrad Bali, located in the heart of Benoa, for example. The hotel is now showcasing its JIWA Wellness Experience to the world.
The JIWA experience calls upon three pillars of wellness: Spa, Sense, and Strength, bringing together restorative therapies, spiritual healing, and familiar sporting activities that bring a sense of balance and renewal to guests during their stays in Benoa.
