With Easter just moments away, top attractions in Bali are preparing to see an influx of tourists to the island.
While Indonesia is a majority Muslim nation and Bali is a majority Balinese Hindu province, around 10% of the country’s population is Christian. Easter Sunday is observed as a national public holiday in Indonesia.

Bali is a hugely popular tourism destination for both international and domestic holidaymakers. With the Nyepi and Eid holidays only just finished, Bali is bracing once again for a flurry of incoming holidaymakers over the Easter weekend.
With domestic travel connections to Bali stronger than ever, it is increasingly easy for families all across Indonesia to travel to Bali for ongoing weekend getaways and short vacations.
Easter will be celebrated across the island at the Holy Spirit Parish Church within Denpasar Cathedral. Preparations are underway for one of the biggest masses of the year.
Speaking to reporters, Guido Da Cruz e Silva, from Denpasar Cathedral, explained how the community and government agencies are coming together to ensure that Easter mass and services run smoothly.
Silva shared, “The preparation for Easter 2025 was assigned to the Banjar Hati Maria Tak Bernoda neighborhood and the Franciscus Assisi neighborhood. It can be said that the preparation this time has been running 90 percent or even almost 100 percent.”
He confirmed that mass will be held 4-5 times a day, since the congregation is growing and more worshippers will be visiting Bali this weekend. He added “This year is a bit different, we have prepared tents to accommodate people who cannot get a place in the church.”
Silva concluded “Hopefully the theme presented in this Easter can be part of the implementation so that it runs well. For the priests who lead the mass have been divided, so each mass is led by one priest.”
Bali tourists will certainly see more people out and about this weekend, though the volume of tourists is markedly less than during the Eid Lebaran holiday period earlier this month. It is also the middle of the low season in Bali, so overall visitor numbers are down right now.
Bali’s most popular beaches are anticipated to see an influx of domestic tourists this weekend. Teams at Melasti Beach in Ungasan have also been speaking to reporters about preparations for the Easter weekend and the upcoming high season.

Melasti Beach has been slowing growing in popularity with tourist and is anticipated to be busier than ever this high seasons.
Tourists who are visiting Bali this low season would be wise to schedule a visit to the island’s southernmost beach to enjoy its beauty without the crowds.

Speaking to reporters Manager of Melasti Beach, Wayan Karnawa, Eid and Nyepi holiday period 52,000 tourists visited the beach.
Karnawa shared, “The most visited day overall was April 3, 2025, with a total of 9,683 visitors, consisting of 8,145 domestic visitors and 1,538 foreign visitors.”
However, since the beach is so vast, there is always plenty of space for everyone to spread out and not feel overlooked by other beachgoers.
Karnawa shared that Easter weekend at Melasti Beach is set to be busy noting “We predict that it will be as busy as during Eid al-Fitr.”

For tourists in Bali this Easter weekend who want to avoid the busyness, be sure to reschedule visits to top attractions like Tanah Lot Temple, Uluwatu Temple, Tirta Empul Temple, Jatiluwih Rice Terraces, and Tegalalang Rice Terrace until later next week.
This weekend, the areas of Bali that will feel quieter can be found in more off-path areas like Munduk, Lovina, Amed, and Medewi; it’s a good time to take a road trip west, east, or north…the south will be bustling!
