Badung Regency is by far Bali’s busiest tourism region. If you don’t know the area by this name as a Bali Sun reader, you’ll certainly know the regency’s top resort destinations.

Badung Regency is home to Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Canggu, Jimbaran, Uluwatu, and Nusa Dua.

Although there is still a month left of 2025, everyone in Bali is already looking ahead to 2026.

It’s the time of year when the travel and tourism industry takes stock of the last 12 months, and tourists are putting the feelers out to start planning next year’s adventures. Badung Regency, as Bali’s busiest tourism region, is thinking big for 2026.

The regency has just announced tourism targets for 2026, and it’s set to be a record-breaking year.

Badung Regency leaders are looking to welcome 6.5 million tourists in 2026.

The target for Badung Regency in 2025 was 6.3 million, and data from January to the end of October shows that 6,077,000 people visited the area.

The Head of the Badung Tourism Office, Nyoman Ruidarta, explained that he and his teams will attract more tourists to the area through a series of strategic promotions and partnerships. Tourists traveling to Bali will see increasing attention on tourism villages and community-based tourism initiatives.

Rudiarta told reporters, “We also want to create inclusive tourism. This means that the community benefits from the tourism sector.”

He highlighted how the new Mekotek Tourism Village in Munggu Village is a prime example of how community-based tourism and tourism villages can help promote art, culture, and Balinese heritage to tourists even in the island’s busiest mass tourism resort areas.

He noted that the plan to level up tourism in Badung Regency will help improve the skills of local people and the experiences enjoyed by tourists.

Rudiarta explained, “The next step is developing the competency of human resources in tourism and the creative economy. We’ve already stated that quality human resources are essential for tourism.”

So for those keen to explore Bali’s top tourism destinations, including Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, and Canggu, keep an eye out for travel deals on everything from hotels to beach club experiences, cultural day trips, and nightlife events.

Leaders are also committed to ensuring that these top destinations live up to visitors’ expectations.

Local leaders have confirmed that they will be investing in improving visitor experience at the iconic Kuta Beach, as holidaymakers have noted concerns around the infrastructure available in the resort village.

For those who are always one step ahead, like us here at The Bali Sun, the next question is an obvious one.

With so many more people visiting Bali’s top resorts, how do we avoid the crowds?

Well, first things first, Badung Regency has more than enough space for everyone to enjoy their time in Bali. While traffic may be a bit of an issue, there are more than enough hotel rooms and sunloungers to go around.

But for those who want to be as far away from the crowds as possible, a vacation in Bali in 2026 is still a viable option.

Top destinations like Sanur, Ubud, and Nusa Penida all fall outside of Badung Regency and collectively attract an overall quieter clientele. For a really crowd-free vacation in Bali in 2026, tourists must look to destinations like Amed, Lovina, West Bali National Park, Kedungu, and even the outlying islands of Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan.

These lesser-visited regions of Bali have a wealth of cultural and natural wonders to explore. These areas are notably less built up than areas like Canggu and Uluwatu, but are each home to stunning all-inclusive resorts, ideal for a relaxed two-week vacation in the sun, as well as hotels, guesthouses, private villas, and B&Bs for those who want to get out and explore all that Bali has to offer.
