Bali’s Best Family-Friendly Activities Are Fun Come Rain Or Shine

Celebrating the Christmas and New Year Holidays in Bali can be super dreamy, with bright blue skies, barely a breeze, and the perfect amount of heat radiating from the sun.

It must also be said that the festive season sits right bang in the middle of the rainy season in Bali, which can impact travel plans. Thankfully, Bali’s best family-friendly activities are fun for everyone, whether it is rain or shine.

When it comes to planning a rainy season trip to Bali, especially a rainy season vacation with a young family, having some weather-resistant activities in the bank is a really good idea.

Activities like Monkey Forest in Ubud, or visiting iconic temples like the Gates of Heaven Temple, even hiking Mount Batur to watch the sunrise, are harder to enjoy during a downpour, but there are still plenty of outdoor activities that can be fun during the rain.

Waterbom, Bali’s biggest and most loved water park, is an excellent choice for a potentially rainy day in Bali. If it’s going to be wet, you might as well make the most of it! Waterbom is a joy to visit, whether on those super hot days or when the clouds just won’t budge.

Perfect for all the family, a visit to Waterbom is stress-free, safe, and mesmerizing for kids. Top attractions at Waterbom include the Lazy River, Python, and Fast N Fierce, with over 20 different rides, slides, and attractions to discover; whether you’re seeking to chill or catch a thrill, Waterbom is always a good idea!

This is for parents and grown-ups, and even little ones, who need a break from the water (whether it is raining or on the rides!). Waterbom offers plenty of shelter, hangout zones, and, most importantly, heaps of different food and drink outlets to keep everyone happy and hanger-free throughout the day!

In terms of fun outdoor activities that are not weather-dependent, it doesn’t get much more fun and adventurous than ATV riding in Bali.

This is a great way for families to enjoy the great outdoors and be at one with the elements; there will be mud! Many ATV tours can be arranged as a full-day trip that includes visits to rice paddies, white water rafting, and waterfall hopping.

Just be sure to check your travel insurance policy to ensure it covers adventure activities before you commit to booking. Most ATV tours allow children to take part, but young children must ride as passengers on their parent or guardian’s ATV or be driven by a guide.

In need of indoor activities? No worries, there are plenty! Unlike shopping malls at home, shopping malls in Bali are more than just retail centers; they are whole entertainment venues.

Transstudio Mall in Denpasar, for example, is a shopping center that also features the island’s biggest indoor theme park. With rides, audio-visual play zones, performances, go-carting, ninja warrior courses, and more, this is the perfect indoor activity for young families in Bali.

It’s also super affordable, with entry tickets starting at just IDR 125,00 and available to book online in advance.

Incorporated into Transstudio Bali, it is the first indoor skydiving center in Bali.

iFly Bali enables tourists to defy gravity and soar like a bird! First Time Flyer packages include a training session, rental of all the required safety equipment, hands-on personal assistance from a professional instructor, and even a personalized flight certificate.

Indoor skydiving sessions start at IDR 750,000 per person for international visitors and IDR 400,000 for Indonesian citizens.

Shopping Malls in Bali also offer tourists the chance to connect with the island’s culture. The newly opened ICON Mall Bali in Sanur hosts cultural performances that are free for audiences to enjoy every day of the week.

The Parade of the Goddesses travels through the mall from 5 pm daily, and the mesmerizing Ramayana Ballet performed by Bumi Bajra Sandi is shown on weekdays at 12.15 pm and every evening at 7.15 pm on the beach floor at ICON’s cultural amphitheater.

The Sunset Water Fountain Show is much loved by local families and tourists and is shown every evening at 6.45 pm.
