Margarita lovers unite! One of Bali’s most popular bars is calling on the support of tequila lovers as they embark on an official Guinness World Record Attempt.
Seminyak’s Motel Mexicola will be attempting to break the record for the most amount of margaritas sold in 8-hours this weekend.
Bright, bold, and always pushing the boundaries, Motel Mexicola will be attempting to set a new world record on Sunday, 15th September 2024.
Tourists, digital nomads, expats, and locals are all invited to take part in what promises to be one of the most fun, competitive, and memorable nights of the year.
The astute readers will already have figured out why the booze-fuelled event will be held on a Sunday evening rather than a hangover friendly Friday night.
The 15th of September is Mexico’s Independence Day, and with Motel Mexicola proud to be the home of Mexican vibes in Bali, it is a fitting way to honor the date.
Shaking starts at 4 pm til late, with the mission to sell as many margaritas as possible in an 8-hour period. Margaritas will be IDR 75,000 all night long, and dancing on the tables is not merely a possibility, but a guarantee.
To beat the record, Motel Mexicola will have to sell a margarita every 30 seconds for the full 8-hour period!
The Motel Mexicola team has lined up some very special bartenders and mixologists to be part of the big event.
The event will be overseen by Benjamin Padron from Licoreria Limatour, which has been listed as number 7 on the World’s 50 Best Bars.
Motel Mexicola says, “The pioneer behind Mexico’s first cocktail bar, Benja, has revolutionized the country’s bar culture with his originality and global experience.”
“As the nation’s most prominent bar personality, Benja’s epic career has taken him around the world, spanning countless awards, guest residencies, places on the judging panel of the world’s most prestigious bartending comps, and now to a Master of Food and Beverage Management from the University of Barcelona.”
They add that “It’s his quintessentially Mexican approach to entertaining that sets him apart, the “my home is your home” charm.”
“Joining him on the trans-pacific journey is his wife, DJ Sussyoh, who will be parking up for the evening behind the DJ booth with her signature feel-good, dancefloor-making tempo. Together, they’ll bring a dose of legendary, open-arms party energy, CDMX-style.”
Group Beverage Manager for Motel Mexicola, Denny Bakiev, will be overseeing proceedings and ensuring that even as the pressure is on to break the world record, every margarita is served to Mexicola’s high standard.
The event will be supported by Guinness World Records, Tequila Herradura, Bols, Corona, and Mezcal Ojo de Dios, who will be helping the party go down in history in all the right ways.
Tickets for the event are still available via Megatix. Entry costs IDR 150,000 and includes two margaritas.
Tickets are non-refundable, and the event is strictly over 21; ID will be required upon entry. No singlets and no alcohol-branded shirts and t-shirts are permitted.
