Bali authorities decided to temporarily close down the Gilimanuk Port in Bali due to bad weather.
The Operational Coordinator of Gilimanuk Port, Nyoman Sastrawan, confirmed that authorities decided to stop operations in anticipation of dangerous incidents due to the bad weather on Tuesday afternoon (11/1).
The closure caused delays to the ferry trip schedules on Gilimanuk Port and the Ketapang Port in Java.
“In anticipation of incidents that might occur on Bali Strait due to poor visibility during the heavy rain and fog, we decided to stop the port and ferries from operating,” Sastrawan said on Tuesday.
The closure was implemented for 1 hour and 18 minutes, from 1:27 pm to 2:45 pm.
Sastrawan restarted operations when the weather became better later in the afternoon.
He also admitted that this was the second closure implemented this week. “Closure was implemented on Sunday (9/1), 4:05 to 6:13 pm for the same reason,” Sastrawan concluded.
