Bali Officials Admit That Crime Out of Control And Everywhere In Bali

Bali officials are taking the first step to tackle the huge drug epidemic in Bali by admitting that there is in fact, a huge problem.

Head of Bali National Narcotics, Komjen Heru Winarko opened the BNN 2020 Leadership Meeting in Denpasar, yesterday by saying “Of all the regions in Indonesia, all types of narcotics are in Bali,” The  Governor of Bali Wayan Koster was also present at the event. 

Winarko went on to explain that drugs were entering Bali by parcel in both international and domestic terminals at the Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport. Rather than face the possible death penalty smugglers have found new ingenious ways to conceal drugs in parcels.

The entry of narcotics into Bali is growing at an alarming rate according to officials. Various methods are being used, including gifts and special parcels.  

“So we will add the equipment, not only on international flights, but also on domestic as well. Now the trend is through the parcel. That’s why we added the tool. The point is we want to secure Bali.”

Winarko said the government wil be working with the courts to hand out even stricter penalites for drug dealers which he said have become to low in recent years. 

As for the users, he stated the government will provide “assessment’ as there is no room in the overcrowded prisons. 

Bali Governor Wayan Koster also said he was ready to help and work together to eradicate narcotics in Bali. 

“Yes, of course we are ready with various policies, including with traditional villages in Bali to help save our generation in Bali,” he said.
