Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport has reduced its operating hours as of February 18/21 due to the lower aviation traffic. The hours have been decreased by 3 hours, from the previous 7:00 am – 11:00 pm to now 7:00 am – 8:00 pm.
The General Manager of Angkasa Pura I Ngurah Rai International Airport, Herry A.Y. Sikado said that this new policy has been approved through Nomor Notice To Airmen (NOTAM) A0363/21 about Changes of Airport Operational Hour.
The decision was made in consultation with the airlines. “We discussed this with related institutions at the airport, and we all agreed to reduce the operational hours due to the low flight traffic,” Sikado said.
Sikado explained that he wants to focus on optimizing the existing flights with the current capacity of 18 flights for each hour.
Previously, he communicated this policy to all airline carriers so they could prepare to adjust their flight schedule once the policy takes effect.
“I also urged all the airline companies to inform their passengers regarding this policy, to avoid any miscoordination between the them” Sikado added.
He noted that this policy is only a temporary step in order to balance the current situation.
“We can readjust this policy anytime, depending on the situation. We could extend the operational hours if needed,” Sikado concluded.
Despite the new policy, strict prevention protocols continue to be prioritized at the airport to ensure passenger safety at the facility.
