A 72-year-old Australian national named Patrick John Boyd has been found dead inside his hotel room on Friday evening (12/3).
The Head of Denpasar Public Relation Police Officer, Iptu I Ketut Sukadi said that the Australian man was found dead inside a hotel located on Jalan Bunut Sari Gang Janji Number 1, Legian Kuta.
“He had been staying there for two years. His local best friend, Dede Setiawan was the one who found him inside the hotel that is owned by a woman named Anggraeni (aged 37)” said Iptu Sukadi on Saturday (13/3).
A woman named Gusti Ayu Manik who worked as a caretaker for Patrick contacted Setiwan on Friday evening because she had not received a response from Boyd after calling him several times. Becoming concerned, Setiawan arrived to check on his friend, but the door was locked. He asked the owner, Anggraeni to open the door using a spare key.
After calling the police and Kuta II Clinics, officers along with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) arrived at the location. The body was later sent to Sanglah Public Hospital using an ambulance.
“We didn’t find any wounds from a physical assault but found some medicines on the table such as Paracetamol, Demacolin, Stop Cold, Lodia, V Bloc and medicine for heart disease. So we suspected that he died from his illness,” Iptu Sukadi concluded.
