A Russian tourist has been left with horrific head injuries after falling off a motorbike while in Bali.
Katya Sadikova, 29, was wearing a helmet when she fell from the motorbike on January 9.
But when the helmet shattered Ms Sadikova was left fighting for her life.
She has already had multiple surgeries but still requires ongoing treatment, her friend Yura Klementev told Daily Mail Australia.
It will be at least another two weeks before she will be well enough to fly home.
And as she waits, the bills continue to mount, Mr Klementev said.
Her hospital bill is currently about $104 millionIDR ($11,000AUD).
Ms Sadikova purchased what she thought was full insurance two months ago, but she later found out it does not fully cover her as she has been in Indonesia for more than six months.
‘The insurance company told that Katya is too long staying in Indonesia (over 6 months) and not going to cover her $15,000 hospital bill,’ Mr Klementev said.
He said there were negotiations underway with the consulate of the Russian Federation in Indonesia to hopefully come to an agreement to help Katya pay off the medical bill.
Mr Klementev has started fundraising in the hopes of making a dent in her bill.
She regained consciousness last week and has been eating and speaking, however, she still has a long recovery ahead of her.
‘Katya always helped those in need and now deserves to be helped! She is also turning 30 in a few short weeks – the best present will be for her to have this nightmare over and done with,’ Mr Klementev said.
