A Village In South Denpasar Records Zero Covid-19 Transmissions In Over 3 Months

Bali officials have confirmed that one of the villages in South Denpasar called Serangan Island has recorded zero Covid-19 transmissions in the last three months.

The Head of the South Denpasar Sub-District, I Wayan Budha confirmed that Serangan Island is the only village that has recorded zero Covid-19 transmissions among other villages in South Denpasar. “Despite the surging of Covid-19 cases in several other villages in South Denpasar, Serangan Island seems pretty stable with zero Covid-19 transmissions in the last three months.” Budha said on Monday (28/6).

Budha said that he’s pretty amazed with that achievement and is still trying to find out a logical reason behind it. He assumed that the location of the village made it easier to separate its people from contact with the virus. “Serangan Island that is only connected with a bridge from the mainland made it possible for its people to separate themselves from the crowd to finally reduce Covid-19 cases in that area.” Budha added. He also explained that people in Serangan have always been complying with the strict prevention protocols while the government distributes the Covid-19 vaccine.

 He also claimed that people in Serangan tend to be more physically active in comparison with the other sea-side areas such as Sanur, resulting in them having a better immune system which can fight against viruses. Meanwhile Wayan Budha also said that the Covid-19 transmission in other areas in South Denpasar such as Pemogan and Sesetan has been surging, so he reminds all the people to keep following the prevention protocols to prevent the area from getting into a red zone area of Covid-19 transmissions so the border can reopen as scheduled.
