Canggu is Bali’s hottest travel destination by a country mile. From boutique hotels to world-famous beach clubs, from outstanding gyms to exceptional cafes, Canggu offers something for every kind of traveller.
With Canggu welcoming an ever larger demographic of holidaymakers, it has some folks asking, is it possible to have a calm vacation in Canggu nowadays…or is it just too chaotic?

The answer is a yes and a no. Helpful right! Well, here at The Bali Sun, we like to tell it to you straight. We feel it is totally possible to have a relaxing and nourishingly calm vacation in Canggu in 2026…but it is also equally as possible to find yourself floating from one chaotic corner to another if you’re not strategic about things.
Don’t get us wrong, the Canggu chaos is pretty darn cool.
There’s method in the madness, as they say. The loud hustle and bustle is some people’s dream. A few traffic jams here and there, or a few queues for entry, are a small price to pay to enjoy a vacation in Bali and to get into world-famous venues. So, the short answer is, pick your poison!
For those seeking a calm and tranquil vacation in Canggu, we have a few tips to share. Here at The Bali Sun, we have watched the transformation of Canggu from a local farming and fishing village to a world-class tourism resort, and we like to think we know where the quiet spots can be found.
Many would think that the easiest way to secure a calm vacation in Canggu would be to book a private villa. While that can certainly be true in some cases, we would actually advocate for staying at a boutique hotel.
The reasons for this are that many private villas in Bali are located close to other villas, and you never know who your neighbours might be, and with no staff at the villa to help mitigate the noise, sometimes it can be a bit of a nightmare.
Many private villas are located just off busy tourist streets or close to loud nightlife venues, which is perfect if you’re in the mood to party, but if you’re looking for calm, it may not be the best.
Whereas by booking a quiet boutique hotel, there are a number of rewards to be reaped. Boutique hotels like COMO Uma Canggu are located a little away from the main tourist resort area and are therefore away from the loud music venues and beach clubs.
Hotels like Hotel Tugu also have expansive gardens, meaning the risk of noisy neighbours is kept to a minimum. Finally, hotels have staff on duty around the clock, and there is a culture of calm cultivated at these kinds of properties, meaning that all guests are on the same page.
It may feel a little counterintuitive, but trust us, high end hotels can help achieve that deep, nourishing calm in the even heart of busy Canggu.

The beauty of hotels like COMO Uma Canggu and Hotel Tugu is that they are full-service hotels, meaning guests do not need to leave and enter into the Canggu busyness if they don’t want or need to. Anything to avoid the traffic right?!
But what about laid-back, calm beach clubs, lounges, and cafes, we hear you ask? There’s plenty to choose from. Afterall, part of the lure of Canggu is all these incredible eateries, bars and beachclubs.

For a seriously chilled beach club in Canggu, it has to be The Lawn. The Ibiza lounge-style beach club is made for slow sunny days, sipping poolside cocktails, listening to acoustic tunes, or ambient beats.
Canggu is becoming increasingly well known for its gyms and run clubs; with all that high octane activity, it would be easy to think that a slow and sensual stretching or yoga class would be off the cards nowadays. Nothing could be further from the truth.

For those looking for a calm and grounded class during a vacation in Canggu, then spots like Serenity Eco Guesthouse and Yoga are a good starting point, or Udara Bali Yoga Detox and Spa is always a good shout!
